Through Technology, a Centuries-Old Battle Is Coming to a Head "A Discussion of Open-Source AI with Travis Oliphant" Travis Oliphant Travis Oliphant is an entrepreneur and CEO and co founder of OpenTeams (OpenTeams®), a company that “helps organizations deploy, support, and own [AI] technology at enterprise scale.” One of their tag lines is “Connecting Companies with Communities.” As a data scientist and software developer, Travis is known for his contributions to Python and as the creator of NumPy and a founding contributor to SciPy, which together formed a foundation for modern AI and machine learning. When I was in Salt Lake City in the first week of June, Travis and I went into a studio to record this interview, continuing a conversation we had started when Travis and his team visited the Solari team in the Netherlands in early 2026. Our discussion focuses on how we can understand and manage the growing presence of AI in our lives. Travis has an impressive intellectual and entrepreneurial background. After earning Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in mathematics and electrical engineering at Brigham Young University, he completed a PhD in biomedical engineering at the Mayo Clinic. As an assistant professor at Brigham Young’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering from 2001 to 2007, he directed the Biomedical Imaging Lab, where his research centered on computational imaging techniques. He then went on to start several companies, each time identifying the need for a new standard, building the open-source infrastructure, and helping enterprises adopt it at scale. Brilliant, open-minded, deeply caring, and generous, Travis is someone who can help us understand what is happening and what we do about it. My hope is this will be the first of many conversations as we navigate the acceleration in technological innovation (and skullduggery) and seek to ensure that tools such as AI serve the health and prosperity of a human civilization. IS GENESIS HISTORY? Full documentary If you are in the mood for a scientific look into biblical creationism, evidence of Noah's flood, and more, challenging the secular narrative that rejects the Bible and God altogether, this documentary is an excellent start. Well known Geologists and experts who dared to question the scientific community present factual evidence to back up their claims. You won't be disappointed. We are taught within secular science to believe that radioisotropic carbon dating methods are 100% accurate, yet fail to explain why Mount St Helen's eruption samples were giving us dates as millions of years old when lava flow was actually forming new material. Radioisotropic dating only measures the half life but doesn't take into account the environmental conditions of the object being dated, which could have been much different than what we see today 1000s of years ago. How can you adjust for environmental conditions such as heat, cold, wind, freeze, or any weather and variables that might have affected the radioactive elements found within carbon dating? We can't go back 1000s of years in time to check the weather. No geologists were present when most rocks formed, so they cannot test whether the original rocks already contained daughter isotopes alongside their parent radioisotopes. How about the fact that secular scientists who believe in radiometric dating just assume a constant decay rate. But evidence suggests other wise. "The radioactive decay of uranium in tiny crystals in a New Mexico granite (Figure 5) yields a uranium-lead “age” of 1.5 billion years. Yet the same uranium decay also produced abundant helium, but only 6,000 years worth of that helium was found to have leaked out of the tiny crystals. This means that the uranium must have decayed very rapidly over the same 6,000 years that the helium was leaking. The rate of uranium decay must have been at least 250,000 times faster than today’s measured rate! For more details see Don DeYoung’s Thousands . . . Not Billions (Master Books, Green Forest, Arkansas, 2005), pages 65–78. Or Dendrochronology, which is the dating method of counting tree rings. Trees that are smaller have less rings so they are assumed to be younger since each ring represents a certain amount of years. Let's use logic. Take 2 trees planted at the same time. One is in the shadow of the other. Which tree grows faster and which tree has more rings? Environmental conditions play a huge role in all dating methods which are impossible to prove millions of years ago. They need time folks. They need millions of years to convince you the Big Bang happened. Time is their answer for everything. Because given enough time you can basically make up anything you want. How about we attack their time. Did you know the oceans are constantly gaining in salinity? Think about it. If the Earth has been here for billions of years, what would be the current salinity of the ocean? Let's look. If the world’s oceans have been around for three billion years as evolutionists believe, they should be filled with vastly more salt than the oceans contain today. Every year more salt gets deposited. 458 million tons of sodium mixes into ocean water each year, but only 122 million tons (27 percent) is removed by other natural processes. The math doesn't work. Now add 4.5 billion years.

THROWN INTO PRISON - DENIED A CAREER for not endorsing Transgenderism - IT IS TIME TO SPEAK OUT Simeon Burke is an award-winning, Cambridge educated barrister. He was called to the bar first in 2023. As reported recently by the Sunday World, those he has tutored in law have said he goes “above and beyond to help you achieve your goals”, with another saying “At least once or twice in a lifetime you will meet a teacher who inspires you. Simeon is definitely one such as that.” None of this was good enough for Seán Guerin, Chair of the Council of The Bar of Ireland. Simeon Burke wouldn’t endorse transgenderism, and that was enough to block him from securing a Master and practising law. At the Bar Council orientation day for new pupils earlier this week, from which Simeon Burke was excluded, the Attorney-General Rossa Fanning gave an address. Fanning was appointed to this role by his good friend Leo Varadkar, Ireland’s first sodomite Taoiseach. Fanning fits perfectly into the Bar Council view of the world, one which denies entry and fair procedure to anyone who will not kiss the LGBT ring; he was pictured recently celebrating LGBT pride perversion with the Bar Council and other legal figures (see video). When you are sent to Mountjoy prison and denied a career simply because you won’t bow to an anti-Christian, satanic ideology that leads to mutilation, depression and suicide in young people, IT IS TIME TO STAND UP AND SPEAK OUT. The Church is called by Jesus Christ to be the salt and light of the world. Today, however, it is silent, and worse. Earlier this year we visited the Church of Ireland synod in Armagh to publicly raise the issue of Enoch Burke’s incarceration with Archbishop John McDowell. McDowell had nothing to say. Outside the synod hall we noticed a table resembling an altar to LGBT and transgender ideology. No wonder McDowell is silent on Enoch Burke - he is presiding over the promotion in the Church of an ideology which is an abomination to God. Despite the open contempt of our courts and legal system for basic rights, the truth remains: every man, woman, boy and girl in this country has a God-given right to practise and openly profess their religious beliefs - and to have a job whilst doing so. We must stand up and speak out louder than ever for this basic truth.

Porto is an absolute masterpiece of local gastronomy. Here, food is not a delicate, multi-course performance behind closed doors; it is a loud, fiercely traditional lifestyle centered around hot iron presses, slow-simmering pork cauldrons, and cold glasses of local Super Bock beer. To navigate this legendary underworld like a seasoned resident, you must leave generic hotel buffers behind and disappear into the narrow, shadow-lined stone tascas where multi-generational families have gathered for decades. Your immersive carbohydrate pilgrimage should naturally anchor at the historic threshold of Casa Guedes Tradicional. While the brand has expanded into a few modern, polished branches across the city, savvy travelers skip the contemporary dining rooms and make a definitive line for the original, weathered wooden counter on Praça dos Poveiros. This is the birthplace of the legendary sandes de pernil, a spectacular creation featuring a mountain of slow-roasted, insanely succulent pork leg that has been marinated for hours in a secret bath of garlic, white wine, and local laurel leaves. The tender meat is carved directly onto a rustic, crusty roll and blanketed with a thick, melting wedge of raw-milk Serra da Estrela sheep's cheese. The rich, funky, and intensely gooey cheese pairs masterfully with the savory pork oils. For a true stroke of culinary genius, ask the counter master to slide in a layer of their deeply sweet, caramelised bacon, creating a magnificent masterclass in sweet-and-savory contrast. Once your pork baseline is established, navigate the cobblestones toward the historic counter of Cervejaria Gazela. For decades, this tiny, high-energy snack bar has been fueling the city's artists and laborers with its signature creation: the Cachorrinho. Bypassing the standard, soft bun layouts of an American hot dog, Gazela uses an incredibly thin, artisanal baguette. The bread is split open, packed with spicy cured linguiçasausage, fresh pork sausage, and a heavy layer of local cheese, before being locked inside a heavy, high-pressure industrial iron press. The sandwich is toasted until the bread develops a beautiful, micro-thin glass-like crunch and the cheese fully caramelizes against the hot iron. Slashed into bite-sized finger portions right on the wooden cutting board and drenched in a fiery, house-infused piri-piri oil, every single crunch delivers an explosive wave of heat and salt. Because this spot is globally famous and features limited seating, arriving exactly as the lunch doors swing open is an absolute non-negotiable requirement. As your food crawl moves toward the bustling transit tracks of the São Bento station, your next mandatory stop is the unpretentious, neon-lit sanctuary of O Astro. This is a premier bastion of the authentic, northern-style Bifana. Unlike the southern versions found down in Lisbon, which lean toward dry, pan-fried pork loin pieces, Porto’s bifana is a gloriously messy, slow-simmered event. At O Astro, paper-thin ribbons of pork are kept continuously dancing inside a massive, volcanic copper pot of bubbling lard, local beer, white wine, and crushed garlic. The chef scoops the dripping, ultra-tender meat directly into a soft, airy papo-seco roll, using a spoon to drench the entire interior crumb in the spicy, deeply savory cooking liquor. Finish off your sandwich marathon by hunting down the rustic stone façade of Tasca do Luís. This local institution operates with a beautiful, zero-frills simplicity: there are no dining tables or chairs here. Instead, you squeeze up to the crowded bar to order their legendary Panado Sandwich, a giant, hand-tenderized pork cutlet that is heavily seasoned, coated in fine breadcrumbs, and flash-fried until it achieves a jaw-dropping, golden-brown crunch. Slapped cleanly into a soft bread roll, it represents the absolute pinnacle of Portuguese street food. 🎥 foodietravellersguide | IG
