Samaritan’s Purse is responding to the devastation caused by a deadly tornado outbreak in southeast Missouri and widespread wildfires in Oklahoma. On Friday night, a series of deadly tornadoes tore through Missouri, damaging or destroying between 300-500 homes in Poplar Bluff and additional homes in Wayne County. In total,... this severe weather system resulted in at least 42 fatalities—12 of which were in Missouri. This same storm system caused wildfires across Oklahoma that destroyed upwards of 80,000 acres and destroyed nearly 100 homes and structures in Stillwater and surrounding areas. Our team is working closely with local churches and officials to coordinate relief efforts and soon, an army of volunteers will begin serving suffering families in both states. Following this week’s massive winter storm, Samaritan's Purse disaster relief teams are headed to Corinth and Oxford, MS, West Monroe, LA, and McNairy County, TN, to work in communities that were especially hard hit by ice and snow. Our volunteers and staff will be helping families by removing and cutting up downed trees, tarping roofs, and more. Pray for all those impacted and for our teams as they serve in Jesus’ Name.

As the damage and various needs brought on by Hurricane Helene continue to unfold, Samaritan’s Purse is currently responding in five locations across the U.S. while coordinating with local authorities and assessing the damage in multiple locations. In Florida, our teams are based in Perry and the greater Tampa area, where homes have been severely flooded after Hurricane Helene made landfall as a Category 4 storm. We are also responding in Valdosta, Georgia to help suffering families as they begin their long road of recovery, Boone, North Carolina—home to the Samaritan’s Purse international headquarters—and a large swath of surrounding communities have been particularly hard-hit with toppled trees, flash flooding, road damage, and lack of power and water. We have established a response throughout western North Carolina and are also assisting area hospitals by providing oxygen support for those who have lost power and require the use of oxygen for medical needs. We’ve set up a two-tent unit in the parking lot of Watauga County Medical Center as well as one in Linville at the Cannon Memorial Hospital. Residents of Villa Ridge, Missouri are shaken up after a strong and destructive storm swept through the area on Friday night. The National Weather Service is now sending a team to survey the damage of what appeared to be a tornado, CBS News' Jason Allen reports. At least 11 fatalities have been reported in Missouri, according to the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency. The deaths come as a massive storm system moving across the country unleashed winds that damaged buildings, whipped up deadly dust storms and fanned more than 100 wildfires.

We just delivered 48 tons of supplies on our 767—much needed items like blankets, solar lights, hygiene kits, cooking kits, family tents, and more.
