In fact, Mathematicians take advantage of factorisation first, and they are the ones teaching Engineers Mathematics.

I prefer the engineerโ€™s method. Why expand the brackets when you can divide by 3 first and make the problem disappear faster? Same maths, fewer opportunities to make a stupid mistake.

Mathematician "let's use the laws..." Engineer "let's get straight to it"

Or do it my way... 3x9 = 27 so x + 5 = 9 so x = 4. Done ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ’ช

@YusufAsunmogejo That's why most of the best mathematics teachers that have tutored me at home & school are Engineers & not those that studied Maths & Stats. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. They like shortcuts

NOT Mathematician but stupid students, NOT Engineer but normal students.

3(x+5) = 27 (3x4 + 3x5) = (12 + 15) = 27 You know x is 4 right off.

Math teaches isolating a variable by the reverse of PEMDAS which will start with reversing the multiplication. So your characterization of the engineering way from the mathematician is incorrect.
