Sammi Deen Baloch of BYC has been confined in Central Jail under MPO issued by PPP led Sindh Govt. Remand hearing of Sammi Deen Baloch and others was shifted to Central Jail in the name of security but the plan was to arrest and detain them under MPO. The Learned Judicial Magistrate discharged all five accused in the FIR registered yesterday. As soon as the accused were discharged and ordered to be released the Police started waving the MPO order. While Sammi surrendered and wilfully gave her arrest the whereabouts of four others Lala Wahab, Raziq, Sultan and Shahdad are unknown. Sammi is to be kept at Central Jail for 30 days. This is the democracy Bilawal Bhutto Zardari lectures on. We will be challenging the MPO in High Court tomorrow and it must be mentioned that the independence of the Constitutional Benches is questionable as seen in previous judgments made in relation to rights of Baloch Activists.

The Karachi Police and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have launched a violent crackdown on peaceful Baloch citizens and members of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC). The BYC had planned a mobilization campaign in Liyari, leading up to an event on January 25 in Dalbandin. However, when party members and participants arrived at Miran Naka near Liyari, they were met with force, baton charges, and arrests by the Sindh Police. After the PPP-Military Coalition blocked all access to the Press Club, protestors from BYC, Aurat March and other orgs gathered near the Governor and Zainab Market roundabout where Sammi Deen Baloch and several other protestors were manhandled and taken into custody by Police. While all others have been moved to Women's Police Station Sammi has been held at Artillery Maidan Police Station which is surrounded by several men in civil dress. No FIR has been disclosed as yet. If the Police intends to formally arrest Sammi then her custody should be immediately moved to Women PS. However, it appears that the intentions are to move her custody elsewhere illegally and give access to agencies which is unconstitutional. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari you and your Govt are collaborators.

Can Bilawal Bhutto Zardari explain why the PPP Govt is so compromised and weak in front of Agencies that it cant even allow political prisoners & dissenters visitation rights from family and friends. BYC leader Sammi Deen Baloch is not an under-trial prisoner she has only been detained under MPO by Sindh Govt. The legality of the MPO is questionable as is but to add to the misery of Sammi her Family is being restricted from meeting her. It is Sammi's express right under Section 58 and Rules 771 & 868 of the Sindh Prisons and Corrections Services Act and Rules to have visitation from family, friends and legal Counsels. Today at Central Jail Sammi's family had to protest in order for her mother and sister to be allowed a meeting. The Jail Authorities and Home Department falls under the #PPP Govt. It appears the Establishment has already decided that dissenting voices whether of activists like Mahrang Baloch & Sammi or whether journalists like Farhan Mallick and A.Waheed Murad are to be denied their right to liberty and are to spend their Eid imprisoned under frivolous cases and arbitrary detention orders. The aim is to not only emotionally frustrate and exhaust them but also their families. Now by denying them visitation rights and right to receive food and daily essentials the Govt is denying Sammi her right to invioable dignity. PPP has govt in both Balochistan and Sindh. SEVEN HOURS AFTER, POLICEMEN SENT BY IGP CONTINUES TO LAY SIEGE ON HOME OF CHIOMA OKOLI OVER ERISCO TOMATO REVIEW Armed policemen are still laying siege on the private residence of Chioma Edoka Okoli more than seven hours after they invaded her home. They’ve called for reinforcement are waiting for orders from the IGP to break into her home at Sangotedo where she is living with her baby and re-arrest. They have not produced any court order authorizing them to re-arrest Chioma. This is the result of years of lawlessness and impunity in the country. The IGP has overruled the order made on November 8, 2023 by Hon. Justice Bogoro of the Federal High Court in Lagos that my client must not be re-arrested or detained except on the express order of a court of competent jurisdiction if she is served with a summons and she fails to appear in court. They have not served Chioma with any summons or charge. They secretly filed a charge against her at the Federal High Court in Abuja (instead of Lagos where the case arose) which pending before Hon. Justice A. R. Mohammed. When the case in Abuja came up on 7th December, 2023, the police told the court that they were unable to serve her with the charge (this is a lie because she was never in hiding and no attempt was made to serve her). The police counsel then applied for adjournment to enable them file a motion to get leave (permission) to serve Chioma with the charge by substituted means. The case was adjourned to tomorrow 10th January, 2024 for the said motion. Justice Mohammed did not make any order for the arrest of Chioma. Indeed, the court said the issue of arrest warrant does not arise since the Defendant had not been served with the charge. Instead of going back to court to get the leave to serve her with the charge, the IGP ordered his men this morning to raid the house of my client and forcefully arrest her without a court order. How can the police file a charge in court and still disregard the orders of the same court? Is the IGP working for ERISCO FOODS LIMITED and Chief Eric Umeofia? The policemen in large numbers are still laying siege on the house. The head of the team told me pointedly that he can’t obey a court order when the IGP has given him a contrary directive. He said the PSO to the IGP called him directly. Is Nigeria a banana republic?

SEVEN HOURS AFTER, POLICEMEN SENT BY IGP CONTINUES TO LAY SIEGE ON HOME OF CHIOMA OKOLI OVER ERISCO TOMATO REVIEW Armed policemen are still laying siege on the private residence of Chioma Edoka Okoli more than seven hours after they invaded her home. They’ve called for reinforcement are waiting for orders from the IGP to break into her home at Sangotedo where she is living with her baby and re-arrest. They have not produced any court order authorizing them to re-arrest Chioma. This is the result of years of lawlessness and impunity in the country. The IGP has overruled the order made on November 8, 2023 by Hon. Justice Bogoro of the Federal High Court in Lagos that my client must not be re-arrested or detained except on the express order of a court of competent jurisdiction if she is served with a summons and she fails to appear in court. They have not served Chioma with any summons or charge. They secretly filed a charge against her at the Federal High Court in Abuja (instead of Lagos where the case arose) which pending before Hon. Justice A. R. Mohammed. When the case in Abuja came up on 7th December, 2023, the police told the court that they were unable to serve her with the charge (this is a lie because she was never in hiding and no attempt was made to serve her). The police counsel then applied for adjournment to enable them file a motion to get leave (permission) to serve Chioma with the charge by substituted means. The case was adjourned to tomorrow 10th January, 2024 for the said motion. Justice Mohammed did not make any order for the arrest of Chioma. Indeed, the court said the issue of arrest warrant does not arise since the Defendant had not been served with the charge. Instead of going back to court to get the leave to serve her with the charge, the IGP ordered his men this morning to raid the house of my client and forcefully arrest her without a court order. How can the police file a charge in court and still disregard the orders of the same court? Is the IGP working for ERISCO FOODS LIMITED and Chief Eric Umeofia? The policemen in large numbers are still laying siege on the house. The head of the team told me pointedly that he can’t obey a court order when the IGP has given him a contrary directive. He said the PSO to the IGP called him directly. Is Nigeria a banana republic?
