"The Sheriff's office will not changes its practices based on the Board resolution and policy that was passed at today's meeting," the statement reads. At a March 2nd meeting, Supervisor Juli Briskman told the county’s DEI department that she hopes the board will not fund a large resource request (elementary SROs), and if that happens, other budget requests like more DEI positions could be funded. The County Administrator already included funding in the proposed budget to fund school resource officers in elementary schools, something Briskman opposes as do most Democrats on the school board like April Chandler and Anne Donohue. On Thursday at 5:15 pm, the Loudoun County School Board is holding a special meeting and is expected to vote on the Sheriff’s proposal to add school resource officers in all elementary schools. Right now, the Democrat majority on the school board is expected to formally oppose the SRO proposal. We’ll keep you updated. Some believe this is being done now so Democrats on the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, like Briskman, can make the argument to take the SRO funding out of the county’s proposed budget. “Why fund elementary school SROs if the school board doesn’t want them?” Right now, there are school resource officers in all middle and high schools in Loudoun County. The Sheriff says the county needs school resource officers in elementary schools because of how many calls of service there are at elementary schools and he says SRO’s can protect the most vulnerable kids in the county when seconds count. Elementary school shootings have been on the rise over the past ten years. The sheriff’s office also tells me there are hundreds of instances where SROs have had to leave middle schools to respond to threats at elementary schools each year. But now it appears the school board is moving the goal posts. The sheriff’s office was able to get the funding, but now there’s an effort underway by Briskman and some school board members to pull the funding and prevent school resource officers in elementary schools.

If you called my city and asked how much we spent on street repairs, I could tell you within an hour — down to the dollar. The County's answer? Vague budget numbers that meant nothing. So now I’m taking the next step and sending a formal request to the Regional Task Force on Homelessness, the group that receives the money and decides how it’s spent through nonprofits — often with NGOs voting on funding for other NGOs. The San Diego Taxpayers Association, other watchdogs, and even the County have asked for this information — without success. Transparency matters if we’re serious about solving homelessness.I’m linking all the correspondence in the comments and will keep you updated. Like basically, if you add up all the money spent on on what is now the Department of War and the and intelligence in the US, that is smaller than the interest payments on the debt. So we need to sort of take a close look at spending and make sure that money is being spent in sensible ways and that it is not wasted or spent on fraudulent activities. The quintessential question every Kenyan must grapple with today is: What is the purpose of government in Kenya? Let's take a look at Baringo County as we try to answer that question. Baringo County has a poverty rate of 47%. This is despite the fact that it has received KSH 60.3 billion since devolution. This county can only raise 3% of its budget, or KSH 250 million. 11 years into devolution. Its 45 MCAs in 2024-2025 consumed 10% of the entire budget on themselves. 10% of the entire budget. This county, after raising KSH 250 million locally: Spends 55% of all revenue on salaries for the 1% of people in government. The legal limit is 35%! That gimmick alone - 55% vs 35% - robs citizens KSH 1.5 billion in 2024-2025 alone. In the last three years, citizens have lost KSH 3.3 billion that way. Now, watch the attached video of a healthcare facility - collapsing because of corruption, incompetence, and indifference. This KSH 3.3 billion went to 1% of those in government. And, it does not include the money lost to corruption in the shameful facility under discussion. After raising KSH 250 million locally, or 3% of its budget, the county drops KSH 381 million on travel. Travelling in style. Where to? "Benchmarking exercise" in Tanzania. "Smart (more appropriately, "dumb") governance" in Dubai. "Empowering excellence" in Dubai. "Digital conference" in Rwanda. "Retirement planning" in Tanzania. "Leadership and integrity" in Tanzania. I mean - you gotta hand it to them. They are trolls per excellence. Leadership and integrity? The point is - this county that started by taking 55% of all revenue on salaries, drops KSH 381 million travelling, for absolute nonsense. ZERO VALUE FOR CITIZENS. The quintessential question every Kenyan must grapple with today is: What is the purpose of government in Kenya? Let's take a look at Baringo County as we try to answer that question. Baringo County has a poverty rate of 47%. This is despite the fact that it has received KSH 60.3 billion since devolution. This county can only raise 3% of its budget, or KSH 250 million. 11 years into devolution. Its 45 MCAs in 2024-2025 consumed 10% of the entire budget on themselves. 10% of the entire budget. That gimmick alone - 55% vs 35% - robs citizens KSH 1.5 billion in 2024-2025 alone. In the last three years, citizens have lost KSH 3.3 billion that way. Now, watch the attached video of a healthcare facility - collapsing because of corruption, incompetence, and indifference. This KSH 3.3 billion went to 1% of those in government. And, it does not include the money lost to corruption in the shameful facility under discussion. Court clerk of Hancock County Mississippi feels as though her feelings and her time are far more important than the rights of the citizens of the county. An arrogant display of government overreach at the Hancock County Justice Court in Mississippi shows exactly why First Amendment audits are so vital. When an independent journalist, entered the public lobby to document court operations, he was met with immediate, unprovoked hostility from Court Clerk Catherine Garcia. ​Claiming the lobby was a "non-recording facility," Garcia cited a state rule regarding criminal proceedings that has absolutely no bearing on a public lobby. Her primary grievance? The camera was making her clerks "uncomfortable." She even pointed to the court's own surveillance cameras—ironically used because members of the public keep stealing their counter bell—demanding that the journalist stop recording while her own cameras rolled. When journalist refused to yield his constitutional rights to appease her personal feelings, she called for security. ​The situation defused only when Investigator Egan arrived, assessed the scene, and correctly informed Garcia and her staff that filming in the public lobby is perfectly legal as long as private records aren't being exposed.
