Good morning, Tiffany. If you start with TTC and have a pass and transfer to GO Transit, you would not get the free transfer. If you started with TTC and transferred to another Transit Provider such as YRT, it will be free. ^KC

The days of walking onto a Sound Transit train without paying could soon become much more difficult. Sound Transit is looking to install fare gates at 14 of its busiest stations, forcing riders to tap their ORCA card to get in and out. The transit agency is losing millions of dollars to unpaid fares and believes this could be the fix. The proposal, which could go to a vote before the Sound Transit Board on Aug. 27, would launch a phased pilot program requiring riders to tap an ORCA card or other approved payment method both when entering and exiting selected stations. Today marks the inauguration of the new Bazamfara Buses under the Zamfara State Mass Transit Authority, aimed at improving the state’s mass transit and commercial transportation system. All buses will be monitored in real-time and equipped with free Wi-Fi service to enable passengers to access the internet. This initiative by the Governor is aimed at easing and enhancing public transit within the state, as well as for those traveling outside Zamfara. An effective fleet management system has also been implemented, which is customer-centric and designed to block revenue leakages.

Did the Toronto Transit Commission TTC Service Alerts TTC Customer Service enact new rules that violate the right to free expression regarding protest signs? Or do you have rules exclusively restricted to signs or verbiage opposing the slaughter of Palestinians? As far as I know, there’s no rule prohibiting political posters or shirts as long as they don't incite violence or disrupt safety and comfort. Has the TTC changed its stance on this? Asking for a lot of friends. Thank you, Trixi Jones, for speaking up and sharing.

Today, Councillor Dan McLean and I announced that we’re exploring a pilot project to install turnstiles at select C-Train stations. Our transit system should be a place where everyone; students heading to school, seniors running errands, shift workers coming home late, and families, can travel without fear. Right now, Calgary is one of the only major city in Canada without turnstiles on its transit system. It’s time to ask whether this is part of the problem and whether fare gates could help restore safety and confidence for riders. I know turnstiles aren’t a magic fix, but Calgarians deserve to feel safe on transit. That’s why I’m calling for a feasibility study to examine costs, accessibility, and safety impacts. It’s time to put rider safety first and take real steps toward rebuilding trust in Calgary’s transit system.
