Are we really worried about this as movie fans? The Odyssey is a 3,000 year old mythological story with a Cyclops, sorceress, sirens, and Poseidon. It’s complete fiction, just set in a vaguely specific time period. It’s only ever been “accurate” to the time it was written and was passed down for years before being put to paper. So yeah, I would say everyone gets to take their artistic liberties with it. The original author Homer did. Why can’t Nolan? It’s not like he has them driving Cybertrucks and tweeting about their journey home. Lighten up people! It’s a movie, not a history book. And it looks awesome.
