Very scary. The pictures and video I've seen make it seem like they were actually lucky that the death and injury toll wasn't even higher with the amount of devastation.

The death toll will be more in the 100,000 range. Horrible disaster. This is what happens when you build buildings out of unreinforced concrete in earthquake prone areas.
