fun stuff! the distort node is another favourite. especially if you run the "flow_projectnondivergentmultigrid" on the distortion vector field before you pipe it in.

I liked your post about the flow_projectnondivergentmultigrid, but I still don't understand what it is.

It is a node that makes a velocity field nondivergent. This makes your distortions area preserving so you get more of a natural physical flow to it all. The non divergent flow is central to fluid simulations.

thank you, i'm going to use it to understand.

OOOOOOOOH I like that :o I'm wondering how to replicate this effect in blender

Pardon??? do you have any tutorial you’d recommend for learning this workflow?

no tutorial needed, just connect the SDF to the height port of the preview material. you can use flow blocks, noises, shapes, or any other nodes as the first input.

Congrats, you just sold me on houdini. I absolutely love this kind of workflow already with programming shaders, i had no idea it was so intuitive. Can you add nodes to your graph that execute shader-like code to manipulate the data flowing through them, or just existing nodes?

@tinybugbot you can put opencl anywhere. also, most prebuilt nodes, you can go in and see how they work or edit them or grab parts of them for something else.

@tinybugbot Oh my god 😮‍💨 the millisecond i’m done with this current project im learning how to use it, that’s absolutely amazing

@tinybugbot the context he is working in here is called "copernicus." there are many ways to do it but i like to put a "copnet" (2d) on the "solaris stage" (lookdev/rendering). I make my 3D inside the copnet using "sopimport" and "sopinvoke" (sorry if that doesnt' make sense, it will :D)

@tinybugbot I appreciate it!! i’m sure it will really quickly, it all seems super intuitive and i’m bookmarking all of this lol this is insanely up my alley
