Every time I go to Amsterdam I'm amazed at how behind North America is on not only encouraging alternative modes of transportation, but how much we DGAF about supporting infrastructure.

I had no context when I clicked on this video and said “nooooooooo!” out loud at 0:33 when it looked like they were building a parking lot

The Dutch dig a hole in water, filled it with the most efficient way to use the city and then covered it with water. Beat that!

In some cities they do amazing things like this. In Toronto we can’t even get the city to agree to a strategy to phase out the use of above ground electrical infrastructure. The new world has some things to learn from the old world as they seem to be bolder and more innovative.

don't forget the tunnel that will connect the fietsgebied to Centraal station and the metro, so after you park your bike you don't need to really go outside in the elements...
