#Syria: video showing a large #SDF-#YPG convoy that withdrew tonight from #Hasakah-city to their military barracks in the countryside. SDF's Asayish (security forces) remain in the city. A similar move was carried out today by Defense Ministry troops, which pulled back from the outskirts of the city to the area of Shadadi. They were replaced by the Security forces.

Over the past 2 days, residents protested against the possible entry of the SDF's Asayish into their communities. While key steps of the agreement between Damascus and SDF were implemented, many issues - such as the governance of Hasakah province - remain unclear. The lack of official details and transparency has created space for rumors, heightening fear in Arab-majority areas. Yesterday, a number of tribal fighters also warned that they would take up arms if the Asayish are deployed in their areas. Just in: SDF commander Mazloum Abdi has announced the formal dissolution of the SDF and the end of its mission as an independent force following its integration into the Syrian army. Abdi is reportedly set to become a presidential adviser for Kurdish affairs and will be based in Damascus. He also said there is a preliminary understanding on Kurdish-language education. Without elaborating, he said “it can be built on,” indicating that this is not yet a final or concrete agreement on education.

Situation on Aleppo, Raqqa & Hasakah [2/2/2026]: On 30 January, a definitive ceasefire was agreed following an agreement reached between the Syrian Transitional Government & the Syrian Democratic Forces for the gradual political and military integration of the SDF. Among the points agreed upon, it is worth noting the limited deployment of MOI forces on the "line of separation" between the SDF/YPG and the STG, which have withdrawn from much of the front line. There will also be a limited deployment of the MOI in the cities of Qamishli, Hasakah and Kobani, as well as at the Sweidiyeh oil wells and border posts. In exchange, the SDF will create four positions that will be incorporated into the Damascus military apparatus, both directly and indirectly, as well as decision-making powers for the SDF in the governorate of Hasakah, which could be considered a form of autonomy alongside the rights promised to the Kurds two weeks ago. During the early afternoon of today, MOI forces began their coordinated deployment with Asayish forces in Hasakah and Kobani for the time being.

The ministry of public safety and security is no longer functional, the governor has refused to appoint a commissioner for the ministry, this is the ministry that controls the command and control center and our emergency call numbers, that ministry is very important so the governor should please pay attention to that ministry. In the absence of the commissioner the permanent secretary of that ministry needs to be active, it’s getting out of hand.
