Situation on Aleppo, Raqqa & Hasakah [2/2/2026]: On 30 January, a definitive ceasefire was agreed following an agreement reached between the Syrian Transitional Government & the Syrian Democratic Forces for the gradual political and military integration of the SDF. Among the points agreed upon, it is worth noting the... limited deployment of MOI forces on the "line of separation" between the SDF/YPG and the STG, which have withdrawn from much of the front line. There will also be a limited deployment of the MOI in the cities of Qamishli, Hasakah and Kobani, as well as at the Sweidiyeh oil wells and border posts. In exchange, the SDF will create four positions that will be incorporated into the Damascus military apparatus, both directly and indirectly, as well as decision-making powers for the SDF in the governorate of Hasakah, which could be considered a form of autonomy alongside the rights promised to the Kurds two weeks ago. During the early afternoon of today, MOI forces began their coordinated deployment with Asayish forces in Hasakah and Kobani for the time being.show more

Following the official dissolution of the SDF, fresh reinforcements from the MoI security forces (not to be confused with STG forces) entered the city of Hasakah to bolster their presence (alongside the Kurdish Asayish, who currently make up the majority in the city) and to deploy to the remaining institutions of the former SDF in order to speed up the process of institutional integration agreed in January 2026. 🇸🇾

Arab tribes in Hasakah and Deir Ezzor have declared their support for the Syrian transitional government in the event of renewed fighting against the SDF/YPG. Following tensions during the Newroz celebrations, the tribes have begun to mobilise and are heading to the front lines where the Asayish are deployed.

Situation on Raqqa [18/1/2026]: [18:00] In northern Raqqa, the SNA began advancing south of Tel Abyad, taking positions previously abandoned by the SDF, and reached the agricultural area and the water canal. The town of Ayn Issa remains under SDF control despite continuous assault and bombardment by the SNA. In the rest of the governorate, the SDF has withdrawn to Hasakah or continues to withdraw, and fighting continues in Raqqa. Following the uprising of tribal groups, the governorate capital was taken pending the arrival of the STG, which happened later. However, pockets of SDF resistance continue to skirmish with the militants while receiving support from Division 17 Army Base and other military outposts north of Raqqa. The reasons for this resistance are to buy time for a complete withdrawal and to avoid what happened in Maskanah and Deir Hafer the previous day. Map: [ ]

Since yesterday the Syrian Government Forces have repeatedly attacked positions of the SDF in the countryside of Raqqah - roughly 2 hours ago, the STG launched more attacks in an attempt to infiltrate the frontline positions of the SDF - as clashes took place, both sides have deployed reinforcements to the frontline.

Syria: the city of Aleppo is facing some of the worst violence since the fall of the Assad regime as tensions between the STG and local SDF-aligned Asayish forces are at a boiling point. The interim government has stated that within 20 minutes it will resume military action.

#Syria: 2 days after their deployment in the city of #Hasakah, activities of the Security forces remain undisclosed. Tonight, one of their convoys was filmed, accompanied by #SDF, in Gweiran district - presumably to visit a number of sites (district also hosts a prison).

Situation on Aleppo [13/1/2026]: In the morning, US troops arrived in Maskanah and Deir Hafer to hold talks with local sheikhs and the SDF, in which it was agreed, as Mazloum Abdi pointed out in the afternoon, that the SDF would withdraw to the front line prior to November 2024 from the N-4 highway axis on January 17. In contrast to this territorial concession, Jolani announced limited and symbolic rights of dubious application for the Kurdish population. Meanwhile, bombings took place against SDF positions, which responded accordingly.
