Sebaashray was organised to ensure that their healthcare concerns were addressed with urgency and dignity. From a routine check-up at the Sebaashray camp to specialised care beyond it, Aarti Bera’s journey reflects what this initiative truly stands for. Identified at the Nandigram Block 2 camp as requiring advanced treatment, she was carefully referred and has now successfully undergone laser surgery for her eyes, completely free of cost. From the camps in Nandigram Block 1 and Block 2, several others who needed further eye care were supported every step of the way. An additional 20 citizens from Falta and Maheshtala received treatment at Renuka Eye Institute, and 10 from Metiabruz successfully completed their procedures at Vivekananda Mission Ashram Netra Niramay Niketan. As long as I have the opportunity to serve, initiatives like this will continue, with focus, compassion and accountability.

In Nandigram, Sebaashray has become a powerful affirmation of what compassionate governance looks like in action. Through our model camps across two blocks, 22 citizens who had been living in darkness due to cataracts were referred for surgery at Kalyani Eye Hospital in Nimtouri and have now regained their sight. Watching them return home with renewed confidence and independence is a reminder that public service, at its best, is measured in restored lives. Health must never be a privilege, and dignity must never be conditional. Sebaashray stands for both. This is what a healthy society looks like, where care reaches people before suffering becomes fate. With your trust and blessings, Sebaashray will continue to expand this mission of compassion, equity, and accessible healthcare for all.

#Udhampur: Must compliment Lt Gen Pratik Sharma GoC Northern Command and the entire staff for illustriously facilitating a 3-day Mega Cataract Camp at our request and bringing quality eye-care services to all including the civilians. Thanks Major Gen Sanjay Sharma, Head of the Medical Wing, for organising this camp for the benefit of the local population. Special thanks to Brig Mishra and the Ophthalmology team from R&R Hospital Delhi for transporting and setting up advanced medical equipment including the rare 3D microscope for precision eye surgery at the Udhampur Mega Cataract Camp. Beneficiaries from far-flung and peripheral areas expressed deep appreciation for the state of the art healthcare services provided at the camp, free of cost. This noble initiative reflects the Army’s commitment not only in war times or the conflict times but also equally so much during the peace times by relentlessly offering their services for the benefit of society…in one way or the other. #JammuAndKashmir
