Sebaashray represents a solemn and unflinching commitment to the health, dignity, and well-being of every resident of Diamond Harbour. In Satgachia, we have had the privilege of providing free spectacles to 2,248 individuals, restoring not merely their vision but also their confidence, independence, and hope for the future. Eyes are far more than instruments of sight, they are windows to opportunity, clarity, and a brighter tomorrow. Through this initiative, we empower our people to embrace life with renewed optimism and self-respect. Sebaashray remains steadfast in its mission to deliver accessible, compassionate, and meaningful healthcare to every citizen in need, ensuring that no one is left behind.

In Diamond Harbour, though this chapter of Sebaashray has come to an end, our sacred mission of healing presses onward with unyielding resolve. It moves me deeply to share that, from our health camps in Diamond Harbour, we have referred 11 citizens to the Renuka Eye Institute, where they underwent life-changing cataract surgeries. Emerging from the shadows of age's veil, they now embrace the world with renewed clarity, their eyes alight with boundless gratitude and the exhilaration of rebirth. Each story is a poignant reminder of the power of compassion to restore not just sight, but hope itself. Our pledge to good health for every soul remains etched in stone, an unbreakable vow to uplift, to heal, and to unite. Together, let us carry this mission forward, illuminating Bengal's path with empathy and equity.

#Sebaashray may have reached its formal conclusion on 20th March, but our resolve to stand by the people remains steadfast. In Diamond Harbour, help will always be given to those who ask for it. Honouring this commitment, today, seven individuals diagnosed with cataract-related issues at the Maheshtala Sebaashray health camp underwent free cataract surgeries at Renuka Eye Institute, restoring not just their sight, but their faith in a system that prioritises people over profit. Every life we touch strengthens our resolve. Our journey continues, not in grand gestures, but in quiet service to the people.

Sebaashray stands as a sanctuary of care for those who often remain unseen, the vulnerable, the elderly, and the marginalised. At its core lies a simple yet profound commitment to heal with dignity, to restore not just health but the quality of life itself. In a poignant expression of a governance model that places compassion at the centre of public service, 13 elderly residents of Maheshtala underwent successful cataract surgeries at the Renuka Eye Institute. For them, Sebaashray meant the return of sight, independence, and confidence in everyday life. By ensuring timely, accessible, and humane care, #Sebaashray2 continues to reaffirm that healthcare must reach those who need it most, without barriers, without hesitation, and without fear.

Sebaashray 2 was never conceived as a momentary intervention, but as a continuing promise that care, dignity, and access to healthcare will not end when camps conclude. Nearly two months on, that promise stands fulfilled yet again. An elderly citizen from Diamond Harbour has regained clear vision after a free cataract surgery at Renuka Eye Institute, while Saifuddin Jamader, referred from the Budge Budge camp, has successfully undergone a complex retinal procedure. These are not merely medical outcomes; they are restored independence, renewed confidence, and lives reclaimed from uncertainty. Moments like these reaffirm why Sebaashray exists. To ensure that quality healthcare is not determined by income, geography, or circumstance, but delivered as a right with compassion and respect. The relief and joy on their faces remain our greatest motivation, and our strongest resolve to carry this mission forward.

One of the most moving outcomes of Sebaashray for me has been witnessing senior citizens reclaim comfort, confidence, and dignity in their daily lives. Though the camps have concluded, their impact endures. From the Maheshtala Sebaashray 2 camps alone, seven elderly residents were referred and received complete dental treatment entirely free of cost. Moments like these stay with you. They reaffirm a simple but powerful truth that care must never become a privilege of youth or wealth, and dignity must accompany every individual at every stage of life. When support arrives without conditions or hesitation, it restores not just health, but trust, self-belief, and hope. And that is a responsibility I remain committed to carrying forward.

In the noble pursuit of safeguarding the health and dignity of people, Sebaashray stands as a luminous testament to compassion, a beacon that pierces through adversity to illuminate lives with hope and healing. Though our camps in Nandigram have now concluded, the vital stream of service continues to flow unabated, ensuring that care reaches everyone in need. From our health camps in Nandigram I block, 5 patients were referred for care, while 11 more from Nandigram II joined them, totaling 16 citizens who have now reclaimed the precious gift of clear vision. Through free eye surgeries at Kalyani Eye Care, Nimtouri, they have emerged from the shadows of blurred existence, their eyes brimming with tears of joy and gratitude as the world unfolds anew in vivid splendour. These moments remind us of the vulnerabilities we all share, and the transformative power of selfless service to turn despair into delight.

#Sebaashray2 does more than deliver treatment; it restores trust. It tells every family, “You will not be left alone when illness strikes.” That promise takes shape in the lives of 22 residents from Metiaburuz, who have undergone cataract surgeries at Renuka Eye Hospital, free of cost, with dignity, and with care that does not discriminate between the powerful and the powerless. As these 22 individuals return home with renewed sight, they carry with them more than medical relief. They carry reassurance that governance can be humane, that institutions can care, and that when the state chooses to serve, lives are transformed in the most meaningful ways. That is the responsibility we owe our people. And that is the promise Sebaashray 2 will continue to keep.

We seldom realise the value of sight until it begins to fade. For those living with impaired vision, the gradual loss of sight often brings with it a loss of confidence, independence, and dignity. Sebaashray refuses to allow lives to be clouded by such uncertainty. As in its first edition, Sebaashray 2 is once again restoring vision through free cataract surgeries, delivered with the highest standards of medical precision and humane care. This is the ethos of Sebaashray: service without conditions and a commitment to stand beside those who need us most in their hour of vulnerability.

Sebaashray 2 has been about continuity, ensuring that care does not end at the camp, but moves forward with those who need it. Through this effort, senior citizens identified at our camps were referred for cataract surgeries and received timely care at trusted institutions. At Renuka Eye Institute, nine elderly residents referred from the Diamond Harbour camp underwent successful cataract surgeries. Similarly, eighteen people referred from the Bishnupur camp received treatment at Drishti Eye Hospital. For many of them, this meant regaining clear vision after years, seeing their families distinctly again, moving about independently, and returning to everyday life with renewed confidence. Good health for every person remains our responsibility.

The people of Nandigram placed their trust in me, and it is my responsibility to honour that trust through action. Sebaashray was organised to ensure that their healthcare concerns were addressed with urgency and dignity. From a routine check-up at the Sebaashray camp to specialised care beyond it, Aarti Bera’s journey reflects what this initiative truly stands for. Identified at the Nandigram Block 2 camp as requiring advanced treatment, she was carefully referred and has now successfully undergone laser surgery for her eyes, completely free of cost. From the camps in Nandigram Block 1 and Block 2, several others who needed further eye care were supported every step of the way. Six residents from Block 1 and eight from Block 2 have since completed cataract surgeries at Kalyani Eye Care, without bearing any financial burden. When I see citizens regain their vision and return to their daily lives with confidence, it reminds me why we continue this work.

Loss of vision is an erosion of independence, dignity, and confidence. It dims the joy of seeing loved ones’ faces clearly, complicates the simplest of tasks, and gradually pushes people to the margins. While cataract surgery may be routine for some, for countless elderly citizens living with limited means, even this basic medical intervention remains beyond reach. This is precisely where #Sebaashray steps in. On 21st and 22nd January, 27 elderly residents of Falta, Diamond Harbour, underwent free cataract surgeries at the Renuka Eye Institute, restoring not just their sight, but their confidence, autonomy, and dignity. This is the true measure of Sebaashray’s success, an initiative rooted in compassion, built on access, and driven by the belief that no one should walk alone in moments of vulnerability. It exists to uplift lives, restore hope, and stand steadfastly beside those who need support the most.

For families standing at the edge of uncertainty, timely healthcare is not merely relief, it is survival. Today, 13 residents from Maheshtala were able to regain their sight through cataract surgeries at Renuka Eye Hospital, an endeavour made possible by #Sebaashray2. Sebaashray is not simply an initiative; it is a commitment. A commitment that illness will not be ignored, that suffering will not be left unattended, that quality healthcare is neither privilege nor favour, but a right owed to every citizen. And in every life that regains sight, in every family that is reassured of its place in the care of the state, we witness the profound truth that leadership is not measured by proclamations or power, but by the tangible compassion extended to those who rely upon it, by the promises kept when hope itself seems fragile, and by the unyielding conviction that service is the truest measure of governance and the highest calling of those entrusted with the public trust.

In Nandigram, Sebaashray has become a powerful affirmation of what compassionate governance looks like in action. Through our model camps across two blocks, 22 citizens who had been living in darkness due to cataracts were referred for surgery at Kalyani Eye Hospital in Nimtouri and have now regained their sight. Watching them return home with renewed confidence and independence is a reminder that public service, at its best, is measured in restored lives. Health must never be a privilege, and dignity must never be conditional. Sebaashray stands for both. This is what a healthy society looks like, where care reaches people before suffering becomes fate. With your trust and blessings, Sebaashray will continue to expand this mission of compassion, equity, and accessible healthcare for all.

I consider it a profound privilege that the people of Diamond Harbour have entrusted Sebaashray with something as precious as their health. The first edition set new benchmarks in last-mile healthcare delivery, and Sebaashray 2 has carried that legacy forward with remarkable success. As we conclude the normal camps, I am filled with deep gratitude and fulfilment, having witnessed the overwhelming warmth, trust, and participation of our people. I salute every doctor, nurse, pharmacist, diagnostician, and volunteer whose dedication made this initiative possible. From 24th to 28th January, Mega Camps will be held simultaneously across all seven Assembly Constituencies of Diamond Harbour to further expand access and ensure continuity of care. I remain, always, a humble servant of the people who have blessed me with their trust and affection, and in every endeavour, their welfare will remain my foremost priority.

The true measure of public service is found in how it responds to quiet moments of human vulnerability. At its best, healthcare does more than treat illness; it restores dignity, independence, and the confidence to live everyday life without fear. At Renuka Eye Hospital, this commitment took meaningful shape under #Sebaashray2, where 18 patients underwent successful eye cataract surgeries. For each of them, failing vision had gradually limited independence, turning simple daily routines into uncertainty and dependence. From diagnosis to recovery, the focus remained firmly on the patient, with continuity of care and compassion guiding every step. For those who walked out with clearer sight, Sebaashray 2 offered more than medical treatment. It offered reassurance that the system stands with them, that care will arrive without hesitation, and that service, when rooted in compassion, can quietly change lives.

Sebaashray 2 continues its journey with the core belief that no citizen should be denied care, dignity, or hope because of circumstance. Across our camps, people are receiving free consultations, health screenings, and essential medicines. And now, by restoring something as fundamental as sight, we are helping restore confidence, independence, and opportunity. In Falta alone, 1,104 citizens received free spectacles as a gift of clearer days, safer work, and brighter tomorrows. For many, this means reclaiming everyday independence long denied by untreated vision loss. With the blessings of those we serve, Sebaashray will continue to walk this path, guided by the conviction that public service finds its highest purpose in improving lives.

As the years advance, diminishing vision often erodes more than sight. It unsettles confidence, autonomy, and the ease with which everyday life is navigated. Tasks once performed effortlessly begin to require assistance, and with that dependence comes a subtle loss of dignity. Through Sebaashray 2, nineteen residents of Maheshtala and one from Budge Budge were identified, referred, and successfully underwent free cataract surgeries at Drishti Eye Care Centre. For each of them, the procedure marked the restoration of independence and renewed self-assurance. When an individual walks out of a hospital able to see clearly once more, it signifies far more than improved vision. It represents reclaimed agency, restored confidence, and the dignity of living without apprehension. That is the true purpose of this endeavour to ensure that care reaches those who need it most, and that no one’s world remains dimmed for want of support.

Public service, to me, has always meant fairness, empathy, and being present for people without prejudice or distinction. Guided by this belief, Sebaashray continues to serve the residents of Diamond Harbour with a singular focus on accessible healthcare and human dignity. Today, I visited the Sebaashray-2 health camp at the Harindanga BDO Office ground in Falta, where I interacted with patients, listened carefully to their concerns, and tried to understand their challenges at a personal level. I reassured them of my continued support and of our commitment to ensuring that healthcare reaches those who need it the most. I am grateful to every doctor, health worker, volunteer, and official who has come together in this collective effort. The warmth, trust, and affection shown by the people of Falta today have truly moved me and strengthened my resolve to walk alongside them, every step of the way.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the devastating loss of three of our brave deputies, who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty. These were not just deputies, they were fathers, sons, mentors, and protectors who dedicated their lives to serving our communities with courage and honor. Deputy Joshua Kelley-Eklund, Deputy Victor Lemus, and Deputy William Osborn were members of our Arson and Explosives Detail. Each of them had years of experience, a deep commitment to their calling, and an unwavering sense of duty. To say we are heartbroken is an understatement. We are devastated, we are grieving, and we are holding close the families, friends, and colleagues who now carry the weight of unimaginable loss. But even through our sorrow, we will honor them. We will remember their dedication, their sacrifice, and their legacy. May Deputy Kelley-Eklund, Deputy Lemus, and Deputy Osborn rest in eternal peace. Your watch may have ended, but your impact lives on in every life you touched, every life you saved, and every heart you inspired.
