@SLOTUS Ok, I get that you think reading is important, but the challenge should be vocabulary. Kids (and adults) can read words but, they don't know what they mean. This is how history is rewritten. Same words, different dictionary. The Left manipulates language to lie all the time.

@SLOTUS May I suggest that kids aren't interested in reading because of the God awful kids books being published & pushed now days? Get them real literature. I highly suggest this list as a starting place. 1,000 Good Books & 100 Great Books.

As the school year is coming to a close, a new analysis shines another harsh spotlight on what’s being called a “learning recession” for American students. According to the latest National Education Scorecard, it's a problem that started long before the pandemic. The report found children had a steady decline in math and reading scores beginning all the way back to 2013, which happened to coincide with the rise of smartphones and social media. Compared to a decade ago, math scores today are down in 70 percent of school districts and reading scores are down in 83 percent. William Brangham discussed more with Thomas Kane, professor and faculty director of the Center for Education Policy Research.
