More than six years ago, Chester was surrendered to our care with diabetes and a difficult prognosis. We did not know then how much time we would be given with him, but by the grace and mercy of God, Chester went on to live many happy and peaceful years here at the Sanctuary, far longer than anyone expected. Chester was truly special. He was gentle, loving, and brought warmth to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He loved his treats, being surrounded by those who cared for him, and especially spending time with his best friend, Boots. The two were rarely far from one another. For Amanda, Chester held an especially meaningful place in her heart. He came into her life during a season of tremendous change and uncertainty following Chris's brain injury, becoming a source of comfort and light when it was deeply needed. Early this morning, Chester went into respiratory distress and was rushed to the emergency room. Amanda and Chris remained by his side as he peacefully passed on to be with the Lord. We are incredibly grateful to the Guardian Veterinary Specialists emergency and internal medicine teams who fought for Chester and did everything they could to help him. Their compassion and dedication did not go unnoticed. We also want to thank every member of our Ark of Grace family who prayed for Chester and generously helped make his care possible over the years. Because of you, Chester was given the opportunity to live a life filled with safety, comfort, friendship, and so much love.
