As a survivor, I know exactly why this is needed and why takedowns don’t work. I addressed the urgent need for stronger global digital protections, here in the U.S. the current laws allow abuse content to be uploaded first, and only offer the option to take it down after the damage is done. That’s not justice, that’s trauma and exploitation. Why are we passing laws that allow the exploitation of children and women to be uploaded in the first place? And how can we dare call that a “win”? For the first time, survivors are not just being heard, they’re being seen and believed. This is what me and my nonprofit, Foundationra have been fighting for relentlessly. The PROTECT Act is the first and only bill that requires agent consent verification before any upload happens , stopping exploitation before the damage can even begin. No more Band-Aid bills. No more empty words. The PROTECT Act is the real solution survivors have needed all along. Now every state needs to follow and we need to pass this federally and internationally. Survivors everywhere deserve real protection, not just promises. Huge thank you to Diane Dixon , her incredible team, and everyone in the Assembly Committee who stood up for what’s right.
