❗️A new corruption scandal is unfolding around the Office of the President of Ukraine Former Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak has been officially charged in a $10.5 million money laundering case. A court is now deciding whether to place him under arrest. The SAPO is asking for bail set at more than $4.1 million. Rustem Umerov is listed as a witness in the case. The amendment aligns Uganda’s law with FATF and ESAAMLG recommendations on adopting a risk-based approach in regulating the non-profit sector. The amendment means that going forward, NGOs, churches and other charitable organisations are not required to register with the TheFIA_UG or file annual compliance reports as has been the practice. In an effort to ensure that the risk profile in the civil society sector remains low, we encourage NGOs, churches and other charitable organizations to adopt anti-money laundering policies and routinely conduct money laundering risk assessments to identify any gaps for appropriate action to avoid money laundering and terrorism financing. 🎥 Recording of the Session.

ZACC said they sent 50 dockets of high profile corrupt cases and 300 other cases to the NPA for action but I don’t recall any that have gone to court apart from Chimombe and Mpofu case. It’s just a waste of money as people are being protected from the top office in the land.
