Arresting Don Lemon makes him the face of the First Amendment. TWO Black journalists were arrested for covering a protest, NOT for protesting. The First Amendment protects the press. To be clear — I believe houses of worship should be off limits. Protesting inside churches is wrong. But COVERING those protests as a member of the press is NOT. Frankly, his arrest should scare you. If the government tells reporters what protests they can cover, who they can quote, or when they can show up — that’s a problem. That’s not a free country.
