NWS did an exceptional job forecasting an extremely difficult flooding situation in TX the other night.. Anyone blaming them is just blatantly ignorant of the chain of events. The overnight timing played a huge part in the deaths imo. Horrific situation NWS Weather Prediction Center NWS Austin/San Antonio

HISTORIC FLOODING IN ANDERSON, INDIANA. The White River is now at 24.93 feet, surpassing the previous record crest of 23.6 feet set during the Great Flood of 1913. Major flood stage is 19 feet here. At 24 feet, a record flood is in progress. This is historic, catastrophic flooding unfolding across Anderson and other communities in Indiana. And now, two different flood disasters are happening at the same time: record river flooding from days of runoff, while additional heavy rain is producing flash flooding across parts of central Indiana. River flooding is the slow-moving disaster, rising inch by inch and swallowing neighborhoods. Flash flooding can happen in minutes. Anderson is dealing with both. More live coverage from the flood zone on The Weather Channel.

I made the Ben Shapiro Show today. Using the information I and a number of other meteorologists provided, Ben set the record straight on the flash flooding in Central Texas last week. NWS Austin / San Antonio was staffed with extra personnel throughout the event, so RIFs under Trump’s EO did not affect forecasts or issuance of alerts. Given the timing of the floods, warnings largely went unnoticed.
