@BeckettUnite Of course asylum should be regarded as a temporary expedient. Germany had a spate of Syrian asylum seekers who were found taking holidays back in Syria while simultaneously being “protected” in Germany. Not acceptable. Asylum by default should initially be temporary protection.

@BeckettUnite Ask any asylum seeker on arrival; "Why are you here?" Answer - "In fear of my life / torture etc" "Which country would you prefer to be in if safe?" Answer - "My own" So why should refugee status be permanent and reviewable? It's clearly in their interest to go home when safe.
