Shaq pitched a "Black vs. White" comedy roast, then Aries Spears admitted he once roasted Dwyane Wade so hard that Shaq made him apologize. Shaq: I want to do a roast called Black and White. Five Black comedians, five white comedians. Think it'd work? Aries Spears: Yeah, if you...

Shaq says he wanted to come to Miami because of Dwyane Wade: “They said Miami wants to trade for you — I thought about D-Wade instantly…I’m watching D-Wade annihilate Baron Davis and I’m thinking back…who is this kid? I never seen him — I knew that if I wanted to go to a new situation, I needed somebody like that…I said you know what — I want to go to Miami…” (via Miami Heat YT)

That is 100% a smile at the end here from Shaq 🧠 Not all dogs remember or are smart enough to know you are helping them. But some of them absolutely understand what is happening. Shaq knew and he still knows today a couple of months later 🏡 Although he’s very happy where he lives now I have to say he’s the one dog I miss and think about the most. I think when you go through something that traumatic for the dog and it’s so touch and go if they’ll live you form a real bond. Love you big Shaq

Bill Burr really grilled Shaq about why he was doing Buick commercials when he has a billion dollars in the bank. I honestly have no idea how Shaq fits in those cars. Bill Burr: Why are you still working? Take a weekend off you 9 ft whore. Give somebody else a chance. You were selling Buicks like I was dumb enough to think you drive one of those things. Shaq: True story. Everyone had the sentiments that you had, so I bought a Buick. One time I was speeding and the state trooper pulled me over. When he saw me in the Buick he said Oh my god you do drive a Buick. And he let me go. Imagine being so rich you buy a car just to prove a point to a comedian.

Bill Burr calls out Shaq for buying a Buick only after everyone said he didn't actually drive one. "You were selling Buicks and I was dumb enough to think you actually drive one." "True story. I bought a Buick. I was driving from Atlanta to Orlando, got pulled over for speeding, and when the state trooper saw me in a Buick he said, 'Oh my God, you do drive a Buick.' And he let me go." - Shaq "You bought the Buick because everyone was saying you didn't. You can't retroactively get the Buick. That's like robbing a bank and then stopping and saying you're not a bank robber." "I did that deal because my father loves Buick. We always had one growing up. Everything I endorse I truly believe in. When Buick approached me it made sense." - Shaq "Why do I feel like Buick is making you say this at the top of the podcast? You need to clear up this scandal."

Shaq reveals “the most valuable thing” his drill sergeant father did that taught him to never be complacent. Phillip Arthur Harrison wasn’t Shaq’s biological dad. But he’s the man Shaq considers to be his “real father.” Shaq says Harrison was “super hard” on him and demanded “perfection.” His stepfather wasn’t his coach of his basketball team, but that didn’t stop him from walking onto the court and calling a timeout after Shaq missed a finger roll trying to be “smooth.” SHAQ: “He said, ‘What are you doing?’ And I said, ‘I’m working on my Magic Johnson.’ Whap! ‘F*ck Magic Johnson, you need to be Shaq.’ So that’s when I started dunking. And every time I dunk, I wanted to tear the rim off. Cause I was mad at him.” Outside of teaching Shaq to play like Shaq and not one of his basketball idols, “the most valuable thing” his stepfather did was never letting him celebrate for too long. He knew that if Shaq became too attached to past accomplishments, it would distract him from chasing “the next thing.” SHAQ: “As a youngster, we used to have the trophies — you know how it was with the youth? We play on Saturday, championship game, we win. Sunday, TROPHIES BE GONE.” The message to a young Shaq was invaluable: yesterday’s win is already irrelevant. The only thing that matters is what you do next.

Dwyane Wade says Shaq almost fought Pat Riley for White Chocolate, he got traded the next morning D-Wade: “Shaq trying to stand up for J-Will. Pat Riley told J-Will get out. Shaq’s like, ‘No, Pat. We going upstairs. We a team.’ And then they had a face-off. Pat and Shaq having a face-off” “I ain’t never seen this look in Shaq’s eyes before. I was sitting there like, I think he’s serious. In my mind I’m on the sideline. I am not getting in this” “If UD and Zo want to walk over and try to break it up, I’m not doing it. The look in his eyes, I’m over here shooting these free throws. But yeah, they got into it and Pat didn’t back down. Pat was in Shaq’s face like, ‘I will whoop you’” Shaq: “Uncle Jerome came in with a cigar. He said, ’Hey, you know that house you got on Alton Road? Get your boxes ‘cause your ass will be out of here.’ He knew. And the next day, I was gone”

Shaq says getting traded by the Lakers made him hand the keys to Dwyane Wade. “I’m like, bro, I just gave y’all three in a row, and y’all trade me?” “Am I the asshole? Is it me? Alright, I’ma fix that.” “Hello, Mr. D-Wade. You’re in charge. You’re Batman. I’m Robin.” “I used to be Batman, so anything you want to know, I can teach you and tell you.” “When I got to Miami, I was like, ‘D-Wade, here you go, my guy. You’re the guy.’”

Gilbert Arenas on why he hated playing Dwyane Wade "I hated playing against him. After the 2004 Olympics, coming into the 2004-05 season, everybody was talking about the Heat. Shaq went over there and I said, 'We'll just treat D-Wade like they did in the Olympics, just play him off the ball.' Didn't think nothing of it." "Then I'm looking at the scoreboards and Miami is coming close. D-Wade is putting up 40, 45, 45. I called the hotel. 'Hey, is this Dwyane? Hey man, this is Gil. That stuff I said a couple weeks ago, I don't know if you saw it.' Just to let you know, you know, trying to smooth it over." "I don't know if that phone call helped because he did not look like it helped. At halftime Larry Hughes looks at me and says, 'If you're going to talk about players, you guard them. Because what he's doing out there to you, he's taking it personal.' That was the last time I ever said anything about a player."

Jeff Teague on Tracy McGrady comments saying if you replace him with Kobe he wins a championship with Shaq on the Lakers: “I think he probably would have won one too though. I damn near think any premier 2 guard at that time with Shaquille O’Neal, now what he did without Shaq I’m ain’t going to say like with Pau Gasol and Bynum and them. I wouldn’t say he would have done that. But damn near any premier 2 guard at that time could have won with Shaq.” That is a tough argument to have because you can’t just take someone stats and plug it in and play with Shaq and do what Kobe Bryant did for that team to win a championship.

Enes Kanter Freedom says he wants the Indiana Fever to draft him so he and Caitlin Clark can become the "modern KOBE AND SHAQ." BRUCE PEARL: "Caitlin's not passing you the ball!" FREEDOM: "Listen, me and Caitlin will be modern Kobe and Shaq. I'm telling you!" BRUCE: "That's a good squad! Do you think you can make that team?" FREEDOM: "I'm just thinking about this scenario, right? We're going down a lane and Caitlin just throwing a lob. I cut the lob and I'm just dunking the ball, and then me and Caitlin just bumping chest to each other, which I am allowed to do because I am now a woman." PEARL: "Wow. I wasn't expecting that." Kobe and Shaq won three rings together and could have won more if they could survive each other's egos. If Enes actually joins Indiana, it'll be Kobe and Shaq on steroids. Who wouldn't want to watch this?

Kobe says he wanted Shaq to win in Miami because he needed people to blame him for blowing up the Lakers so he could use the anger as fuel Shaq: “After we split apart, were you trying to get more championships than me?” “Oh, absolutely. I knew you were going to get one. I knew you were going to get one because of the energy going into Miami and D-Wade and everything that was there. So I knew I had to get at least two or three.” “I wanted you to get that because I needed that. I wanted people to say, ‘See? See, this is what they’re missing here. This is what they gave up for.’ ‘Kobe should have been the one to go.’ I needed that.” “I wanted everybody to hate me. I wanted to fuel off of that and just come back with so much anger and so much vengeance. So when you won, right after you won, I went out to the track and I ran. I did my conditioning. I did my drills.” “I woke up the next morning. I hit my weights. I did my thousand shots. I did everything humanly possible to get myself ready. I was like, ‘All right. Yeah. Good. I needed it.’”

Every time !!🫡 Aries Spears just flips a switch when he gets into that crowd work mode. The energy is ridiculous — he moves around the stage like he owns the whole building and somehow makes every single person feel like the bit is aimed right at them. Never rushes a line, stays locked in the whole time, and the room just stays loud from start to finish. These are the sets that hit different when you put them back on at 2 a.m.Anybody else still replaying this one?

Rasheed Wallace says no defensive game plan actually worked against prime Shaquille O’Neal because he was simply too dominant. Carmelo Anthony : What was the scouting report for guarding Shaq? Rasheed Wallace : The goal was simple. Don’t let him get a post-up dunk. Force him over his right shoulder and send the double team from the right spot. We’d try everything. Double from the baseline, the middle, anywhere we could. We had whole game plans built around getting the ball out of his hands. It didn’t matter. Shaq would crack you in the mouth and keep going. At that time he was 7-foot-2, around 340 pounds, could run the floor, and was the best athlete on the planet. People forget how scary that combination was. I took so many elbows guarding him. None of them were dirty, that’s just what happened when you played against him. The refs actually let defenders be way more physical with Shaq because they figured it would take more than a little arm slap to affect him. That’s part of why he got so frustrated and started throwing elbows back. Then teams started using Hack-a-Shaq, and I know he wanted to fight a lot of people over that. Monica McNutt : People compare Victor Wembanyama to Shaq because both change how teams have to defend. Do you think that’s fair? Rasheed Wallace : No. Victor is a great player, but it’s different. Shaq outweighed most guys by 80 pounds or more. If your center got in foul trouble and you had to switch onto him, you were in trouble. There were times I’d be the first big back on defense, see Shaq sealing in the paint, and immediately tell him, “Big fella, I’m about to foul you.” I wasn’t trying to be tough. I just didn’t want to catch one of those angry elbows. Prime Shaq was unlike anything else. Guarding him was survival.
