WATCH: Chicago Ald. Desmon Yancy calls out current city employees owing “tens of millions of dollars” to the city in unpaid fines and fees. “To be paid by the city and ignoring your debts to the city is insane. Many of these employees are able to pay their debts to the city but don’t feel compelled to pay, and that’s not OK.” Kudos to Ald. Yancy for calling this out. Outrageous that these debts are not garnished from wages already, as working Chicagoans pay higher property taxes to make up the difference. Simple fix.

What does not come through the Consolidated Fund is illegal and Kenyans cannot pay. Why are we paying debts we never saw? Debts we never benefited from? It’s high time we move away from asking families of a deceased person to give money when we pray for their deceased. There is a strong argument against 8Day Fidau prayer gathering already. Adding the problem of asking money from the families and friends of the deceased is even gross. We should condole with, help to pay up the debts of the deceased and seek goodness for the family, not add to their misery or compound their suffering. May Allah rectify our affairs. Āmīn.

This is what everyone should know about Odious Debts/Illegal debts/Hidden debts. Kenya's odious debt is an illustration of cases around the world whereby consultants from multinational corporations identify developing countries with something of value, such as minerals, and persuade the authorities of these countries to secretly take on huge development loans with banks. In most cases, the money never reaches the countries. Rather, the money is transferred directly from the banks to offshore accounts of these crooks and the countries are then left with massive debts. Resources and companies from developing countries are given as collaterals for these loans. Therefore, the resources that countries should use to invest in development are transferred to service these odious debts. This is what is happening in this country. We are being overtaxed to pay debts we never saw. Debts which never passed through the Consolidated Fund and are not documented. Debts that went through individual accounts. The killer regime is now selling state parastatals in the name of servicing these debts which we never saw. Over Ksh 6.8T is undocumented, untraceable and there's no proof that we received such money. Basically, we are being turned into slaves at the expense of a few crooks.
