When I was at Howard, I had a situation at Howard where I walked in the documentation, ensured my parents had paid the outstanding balance, and my classes still got dropped. I graduated in 1999. This is why nobody believes HU.

I hear what she’s saying but it’s 500+ students that is having issues not 20 something. This would not be news if it was below 50 students that “forgot”to submit documents. With the amount of students affected this is school issue

I've been looking at it as more of an internal system processing issue. Like yea HU likely communicated ad nauseum, but if the students with special provisions still filled out the proper paperwork and sent it in on time and still got unenrolled...that's a processing error.

Soooooo basically Howard paid her to do a rebuttal. 500 students is not only significant it shows THIS is an institutional failure when it comes to educating incoming students/families on the process.

My friend's child is at Howard. Unenrolled kids had until last week to pay 50% of tuition OR indicate how it would get paid. Howard admitted 10,140 students for the fall 2026 entering class aiming for 2,500 freshman. They paid for flights but not tuition. 2000 followed directions

I work in the bursars office of a private university and normally we drop students due to non- payment, but we also give them the opportunity to finalize their payment to get reenrolled before the census date. Where is that option for the students?

THANK YOU!!! Literally thousands of students are actively enrolled and understood the assignment. A few hundred can’t seem to get it and it’s the school’s fault. How much do you want to bet? These are the same students whose parents rarely showed up for parent teacher conference conferences.

Here is a copy of the emails students and parents who made arrangements to get their child’s school emails. I was told this went out In March, April, May and June. It is pretty clear

Howard grad, married to a Howard grad, and we have a son going into his 3rd year at Howard... she's 100% right. There are always outliers but the process is pretty straight forward. However, you really gotta keep up with those emails and check that portal for balances.

This is why I always had my kids’ log-in info when they were in undergrad—not just the parent log in. Only way I could stay on top of an ever-changing and confusing fin aid/scholarship/tuition payment plan process. Deadlines and rules changed often. If the school changed …

Before internet, you stood in several long lines, a well done process. Kids who got up early got done faster (it was cool, got to meet/know other students). Kids who were lazy got up late often missed windows and were the complainers. Hell you didn't graduate if you owed 5cents.

This is simply not the truth in Howard’s situation. Assuming families don’t have understanding is insulting. My daughter is a career student attending universities across America. Howard is the ONLY one we had issues with. My child actually lost a fasfa loan semester due to them

She’s wrong because there is no way THAT many parents got it wrong

So why did they wait 2 weeks before the start of school to disenroll them? If they didn’t receive payment 2 months ago, that’s when they should have disenrolled. Now these kids have to scramble and try to get in other schools a week before the semester starts.

It's a lot of words to justify locking information behind thousands of dollars worth of debt.
