If you follow the logic that any disparity automatically proves bias, then the only possible explanation would be an extreme age bias in the justice system. Crime tends to peak in the late teens and early 20s, and then declines sharply starting in the mid-to-late 20s. You see a version of the same pattern among women as well. A 20-year-old woman is also far more likely to commit a crime than a 60-year-old woman, even though overall rates are much lower for women than for men.
