My last post about “my tummy ruins my outfits” caught the attention of so many people, and I’m happy. 🤍 I read through the comments, and I noticed one response kept coming up: “Go to the gym.” Let me be clear. I have absolutely nothing against fitness. I believe everyone should take care of their health, stay active, and if losing weight is your goal, I genuinely wish you success. But here’s the question: Should someone have to hate their body until they reach that goal? I don’t think so. My message wasn’t that fitness doesn’t matter. It was that confidence shouldn’t be postponed. You can be on a fitness journey and still dress well. You can work on your body and still appreciate it. You can want to lose your tummy without believing it makes you unworthy of looking beautiful today. Some people also felt I was telling women to hide their stomachs. That wasn’t my point either. My point was that clothes are designed differently, and understanding your body type helps you choose styles that complement your shape. That’s not about hiding your body. It’s about knowing how to dress it. Loving yourself doesn’t cancel self improvement, and self improvement shouldn’t require self hatred. That’s the conversation I was trying to start. 🤍
