We will not fund healthcare for illegals, but helpless women and children on WIC shouldn’t be punished for political fighting in Washington. The Republican-controlled Senate needs to stop playing games with America Last Democrats and use the nuclear option to pass the CR and fund the government so that innocent Americans aren’t hurt. And Republicans need to get back to work on our own appropriations bills and pass the policies that America voted for! I 100% agree with the cuts that Russ Vought is making, but the truth is that these cuts need to be made through Republican appropriations bills. And the government doesn’t have to be shutdown in order to make these cuts.

SHERMICHAEL SINGLETON: Can I just make one point of objection to what Ana just said? You know, in politics, sometimes we make flippant remarks. If we could go back and do it over, we would. Pete Hegseth has served this country honorably- a tour in Afghanistan, a tour in Iraq. I never put on the uniform, but I certainly have a lot of damn respect for the people who do. He led his troops for about a year as a leader, and many of the generals and individuals who gave him a Bronze Star wrote admirably about his leadership position. So I don't think that this is someone who doesn't recognize the importance of war, the toll it takes on families, and that you might indeed pay the ultimate price. And so I think we shouldn't forget that. We may dislike him. You may not like the comment that he made and we could critique maybe it wasn't the right way to word it, but but this is someone who knows war more than anybody at this table that I'm familiar with, and we should keep that in mind.

They could have simply said to MJ's point, to Chuck's point, the President isn't going to put his thumb on the scales of justice. He's going to wait. He hasn't made a decision yet. Most people would have expected that. They would have respected that. I think most people, to your point, Chuck, believed if it was my child, I probably would have done the same thing. That's not the issue, Jake. The question here, the burden on the White House, I would argue, is the continuous lies. You said that you were better than this other guy. You criticized the other guy for all of these things. And now, your DOJ is committing witch hunts and this is now politicized, where you appointed Merrick Garland. And you know why he’s saying this? He’s feeling the heat. We’ve made it clear that the reason Republicans have this Trump shutdown is because they won’t even talk to us about the issue. So this idea that they’re negotiating with us is utter bull. We’ve refuted it. But let me say this: we’re willing to sit down and negotiate the issues of health care and how to relieve the American people of the pain they’re in—anytime, any day, in public.

Hogg used his time on CNN to blame Republicans for the government shutdown, even accusing Scott Jennings of not caring about people in his home state on ACA subsidies. He was silenced pretty quickly. HOGG: “The entire reason the government is not open right now is because Democrats refuse to be complicit in having millions of Americans, including 100,000 in Kentucky, you’re home state if I’m remembering correctly Scott, that rely on ACA, that would see their premiums rise several dozen percent.” When Jennings finally jumped into the discussion, he came armed with the facts and Hogg didn’t stand a chance.
