The store wanted her gone, officers explained that she had to leave, and she refused. After she was detained, officers attempted to verify ownership of her belongings by looking at the receipts she had been citing. That’s when she refused to let them see them, claiming the officers would delete her receipts. Throughout the encounter, she said she was being targeted, repeatedly portrayed herself as the victim, and accused people who challenged her behavior of racism. She was ultimately listed as facing criminal trespassing, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Police also reportedly alleged she later attempted to slip out of her restraints at the hospital.
