I just jumped off Shopify’s Q2 2024 Earnings Call. Shopify had a great quarter and we continue to push the envelope of what’s possible in commerce. ICYMI, here are the highlights of Q2 2024 Shopify: 1️⃣ We passed a major milestone: Shopify has officially processed 1 TRILLION dollars in cumulative GMV 2️⃣ We delivered on the financials: - Gross Profit in Q2 was $1 billion dollars - up 25% YoY and grew faster than revenue which was $2 billion for the quarter - Our free cash flow margin more than doubled to 16% from 6% last year - This is our fourth consecutive quarter of double-digit free cash flow margin 3️⃣ Brands continue to flock to Shopify; Casper, Away luggage, Tonal, Vince Camuto, Ami Paris, Therabody, and legacy brands like QVC and Barnes and Noble all joined Shopify. ⚡We aren’t just helping brands thrive online, but also offline in physical retail. So I built a Google Lens mobile app using just the Shopify Catalog API (publicly available), GPT-5, Replit ⠕ and Claude R Perrin code. It’s insane how this was just built by telling it what I wanted. Here’s a demo. Should I open source? All APIs are publicly available. The app works like this: 1. Ask Replit to generate initial working app prototype. 2. Bring into Claude Code and iterate using screenshots and high level vision. The app works by: - user takes a photo or selects one from camera roll - crop photo to maximize focus area - send to GPT-5-mini to extract tags - send extracted product tags to gpt-4o-mini to generate search query - send search query to Shopify Catalog API Basically your camera becomes a shopping search bar.

Three Liquid variants get pushed through the Storefront API. Native Shopify A/B handles the split. Five cents per generation. No course. No Discord. No earpods.
