🚨🚨Shoplifting Surge in Sheepshead Bay and Gravesend: A Community in Crisis🚨🚨 The recent influx of migrants in the Sheepshead Bay and Gravesend neighborhoods of Brooklyn has sparked a wave of shoplifting incidents, leaving local businesses reeling. The area, known for its blend of big-name stores and cherished mom-and-pop shops, is now grappling with a surge in thefts that many attribute to the nearby migrant hotel. Local store owners report a significant increase in shoplifting since the migrant hotel opened. Marshall's, a well-known retail chain, has even gone so far as to employ a paid NYPD detail to address the issue. Smaller businesses, however, are feeling the brunt of these crimes without the same level of security. "I've had more items stolen in the past few months than in the last several years combined," lamented one shop owner. "It's not just the loss of goods; it's the sense of violation and fear among my staff and customers." NYPD police sources confirm an uptick in shoplifting. Due to lax laws, many of those arrested are released just hours later, exacerbating the problem. The shoplifting problem has heightened tensions between the local community and the migrant population. Store owners express frustration that migrants, who receive free housing, food, and financial assistance, are still engaging in theft. "They get everything handed to them and still come into our stores and steal. It's not right," said another store owner. "These migrants get free hotel, free food, free money, and they're still stealing from us. We're trying to run our businesses and provide for our families, but this constant stealing is making it impossible." Some store owners have reported instances where migrants enter stores with babies in carriages and use them to conceal stolen items, further complicating efforts to prevent theft. The rise in shoplifting is not just a financial burden; it's eroding the sense of safety and community that Sheepshead Bay and Gravesend have long cherished. Residents and business owners alike are feeling the impact, and tensions are palpable. As the community navigates these challenges, there is a growing call for solutions that address the root causes of the issue while preserving the neighborhood's integrity. The voices of Sheepshead Bay and Gravesend are clear: they need support, and they need it now By Leeroy Johnson For licensing email [email protected]

MATTER OF URGENT PUBLIC IMPORTANCE: 04/03/2025 A motion on the Urgent Call to Suspend and Investigate the Proposed Increase in Subscription Prices by Multichoice: Multichoice, the owner of PayTV options DStv and GOtv, recently announced an increase in the prices of all its packages in Nigeria, citing prevalent economic factors leading to increased operational costs as their reason for the proposed increase. The 20%-25% hike in subscription prices would be the second time in less than a year, as the last hike was in May 2024. The increase in May 2024 sparked a public outrage and many Nigerians who werealready dealing with rising costs of living were forced to ditch their decoders even as they lamented the lack of competition in the pay-TV sector. Due to the dominant position of Multichoice in pay-TV, price increases always have a widespread impact and put consumers under undue pressure. The most recent hike in subscription prices announcement has triggered widespread criticism from subscribers, many of whom have taken to social media to express their frustration over frequent price hikes without a corresponding improvement in service quality and the seeming aloof stance of the government towards the situation. The House Resolved to: (i) Call on Multichoice to suspend their proposed increase in subscription prices in Nigeria pending exhaustive investigations; (ii) Mandate the Committee on Information to investigate the arbitrary increase in subscription prices by Multichoice with a view to ensuring implementation of cost-effective policies in the pay-TV sector for consumers in Nigeria.

Caught on camera! Rebel News reporter witnesses heist at LCBO store Rebel News reporter David Menzies had a firsthand view of thieves robbing an LCBO store in Toronto — and neither the staff, Crown corporation nor Premier Doug Ford seem to care. So, there we were at the Liquor Control Board of Ontario store at 1750 The Queensway in west-end Toronto on Tuesday night. We were buying a bottle of Laphroaig Quarter Cask because, well, where the hell else is he supposed to get a bottle of Scotch in Ontario? In any event, while off-duty and minding our own business and not looking for trouble — but trouble found us. Thieves entered the store, filled their sacks with booze, and made a getaway. We filmed the crime on our cellphone and gave chase until it seemed that one of the thieves was brandishing a weapon of some sort. Maybe we need our heads examined for reacting to those thieves in such a fashion. Toronto being Toronto these days, the thieves could’ve been brandishing knives. Or guns. And dead men tell no tales. In any event, what did we learn from this encounter? Three things: For starters, those dudes are actually regular thieves. The LCBO staff recognized them immediately, yet did nothing. Nobody even left the store to take down the licence plate number of the getaway car. We did that. So, if you happen to see a white Chevy van in the GTA with plate number CB 39133 call the police. Assuming they give a rodent’s rectum. Next, this was yet another example of how our so-called castle laws totally suck. The LCBO employees told us that if they had gotten involved, they would have been automatically fired. And if they had harmed the robber in a takedown, they might even get sued — by the robber! Gee, who’s running the LCBO these days? York Regional Police Chief Jim MacSween? You know, the guy who wants residents of York Region to be “compliant” when home invaders break into their houses? That doesn’t apply to the chief, of course. He always has his sidearm nearby, something that is verboten for us. But never mind… Finally, when it comes to the booze file, can Premier Doug Ford pull himself away from creating stupid photo ops like banning Kentucky bourbon and California wines and dumping domestically made Crown Royal whisky down the drain? Can the province’s chief cherry cheesecake eating enthusiast do something tangible about LCBO theft, which is estimated to be as high as $77 million per year? We’ll help him out: for starters, have stores hire paid-duty police officers to lay down the law. And how about this: reconfigure LCBO stores much like they used to exist in yester-decade when the booze was locked in the back and a customer had to pay for that bottle before getting his hands on it. But no. Don’t expect the entitled lazy idiots running the LCBO or the premier to do anything. That’s because the LCBO is a government-owned liquor monopoly. It’s not their money going out the door — it's ours, at least if you live in Ontario. So, the LCBO’s solution to out-of-control theft is to simply mark up the bottles to cover the shrinkage and turn a blind eye to thieves. That’s right — the LCBO’s gameplan is to penalize its law-abiding customers who actually pay for the stuff while rewarding the thieves. You can’t make this up. Meanwhile, Douggie, can you adhere to the election slogan that you and your beloved late brother, Rob, used to run on? Namely, “Respect for taxpayers.” Because the dangerous crap that is going on at LCBO stores is completely disrespectful to those law-abiding Ontarians whom you claim to serve.

Today I announced the Affordable Groceries Act to address our growing affordability crisis in San Francisco. For years, the price of milk, fresh vegetables, and more has been rising by double digits. At the same time, large chain corporations are leaving grocery stores and pharmacies as "zombie stores" - paying their lease to keep the storefronts vacant and block competition. The Affordable Groceries Act aims to end those food deserts by providing stimulus incentives to new grocery stores and pharmacies, while taxing zombie stores to generate revenue that could be used to fund new stores that sell affordable, fresh food. It works in 3 steps: 1. Streamline new stores, by eliminating conditional use permits for new groceries and pharmacies on vacant lots, while providing tax credits to reduce pharmacy gross receipts taxes. 2. Tax zombie stores, by ensuring that large chain corporations that deliberately leave grocery stores and pharmacies empty pay a vacancy tax for as long as they block competition from using the storefronts. The tax would not apply to small businesses, or to any new store that opens after January 2027. 3. Fund affordable groceries, by establishing an Affordable Grocery Fund that will subsidize operators that provide fresh affordable food. This could help corners stores convert into full grocery stores with fresh food, or let the city purchase buildings and rent them out to grocery operators who agree to keep prices low. We're bringing Affordable Groceries Act to the ballot this November, so you can make your voices heard that every San Franciscan deserves fresh affordable food in their neighborhood.

How a Township Pick n Pay Franchisee Lost Everything Meet Irish Modisane. In 2009, Irish became part of a programme intended to bring more black South Africans into the formal economy through franchise ownership. He took over a Score Supermarket in Siyabuswa, Mpumalanga. The store was reportedly in a poor condition at the time, but the promise was simple: build a successful business, create jobs, and help expand retail access in township communities. For many South Africans, this is exactly what economic transformation was supposed to look like. But according to Modisane, things did not turn out that way. He alleges that township stores operated under very different conditions from stores in affluent areas. Customers bought more basic necessities and fewer high-margin luxury products, making profitability more difficult from the outset. Modisane further alleges that unsuitable stock was frequently allocated to township stores, creating cash flow pressure and making it difficult to clear inventory before new stock arrived. As debts accumulated, he says franchisees were required to enter into variation agreements that added interest charges to outstanding balances. According to Modisane, Pick n Pay eventually took direct control of the Siyabuswa store. He alleges that head office personnel were brought in to run operations and that he was effectively excluded from the business he had built. He claims that while the store continued trading, debts continued to accumulate in his name, leaving him in an increasingly impossible financial position. Ultimately, the franchise was lost. Today, the man who once operated a major retail store in Siyabuswa reportedly earns a living through recycling, he has not lost alone but an additional 100 plus people lost jobs under him Modisane’s story raises uncomfortable questions now • What protections exist for franchisees when disputes arise? • Are township stores evaluated differently from stores in wealthier areas? • How should debt restructuring be handled between large corporations and small operators? • Did South Africa’s transformation programmes create lasting ownership, or simply temporary participation? These are questions that deserve answers. #BoycottBoxerStores #BoycottPicknPay Boxer Springboks

🚔 A newer and quicker approach to tackling retail crime! We can confirm we have rolled out Operation Dale across the force, a new innovative new approach to tackling retail crime and bringing offenders to justice more quickly. Using digital evidence such as CCTV footage and witness statements from retail workers, officers can now streamline investigations where there is overwhelming evidence, reducing unnecessary processes and speeding up prosecutions. ✅ Average time from custody to charge reduced by seven hours ✅ Faster justice for victims and businesses ✅ More officer time spent tackling crime in our communities ✅ Greater efficiency and better value for public money Following a successful pilot in Liverpool, the new Prosecution Without Interview (PWI) process has already delivered impressive results, with consistently early guilty pleas and positive feedback from the Crown Prosecution Service. Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said 🗣️ "Operation Dale has transformed the way we tackle retail crime. By making better use of digital technology and streamlining investigations where the evidence is clear, we are bringing offenders to justice faster and freeing up officers to focus on protecting our communities." Importantly, the benefits go beyond shop theft. Many prolific offenders are also linked to burglary, drug-related crime, anti-social behaviour and violence against women and girls. By targeting these individuals more effectively, we can prevent further harm and keep our communities safer 🤝 As the operation continues to expand, it is already saving time and efficiency, charging offenders and putting them through the courts within days, when previously this would have taken considerably longer. ➡️ Terri-Ann Williams, 42, of Bridge Street, Birkenhead, was charged with 13 offences at multiple shops across Merseyside and was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison. This CCTV footage shows her in action ⛔ If you see a retail worker being spoken to in an abusive way or any kind of physical abuse please contact security staff in the retail outlet and never put yourself at risk. You can report crime to us by sending a message to Merseyside Police Contact Centre, calling 101, or visiting our website. In an emergency, always call 999.

Walmart manager confirms the store is changing prices of items from the time you pick them up to the time you get to the register “So me and my son went to Walmart to pick up some butter and some other items for my baking, and I grabbed my stuff, and I'm very aware of prices because of how high stuff is. And I go to check out and I start noticing that my prices are higher, and I'm like, okay. So I call the manager over And he comes over and he says, uh, you know, the prices can change from the time you leave the area to the time you get to the register because the computer updates” The manager confirms that just within that couple minutes they’re allowed to change the price According to Walmart they are implementing these digital pricing tags throughout all their stores and the prices can change. The CEO made a statement saying the prices will change but it’s by item, not person. He also said the price changes are supposed to be done outside of customer hours But this is a big issue for many people because with these tags the items can be changed mid-day or based on demand. Yes they’re the same price for everyone but that’s still dynamic pricing This isn’t a conspiracy theory wither, Walmart has been sued by California for issues with pricing like this more than once. So the CEO is saying one thing but what people are seeing in the stores, what their employees are saying and what lawsuits are showing is the opposite

Little Rock PD try to apprehend a shop lifter deploy ten taser shots all with no effect while man escapes on foot yelling out "Allah". A Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) officer responded to a report of a suspected shoplifting incident at a Road Runner gas station convenience store. Upon arrival, the officer encountered a man who had allegedly walked out with two lighters and a drink without paying for them. When confronted outside the store, the suspect—holding two long plastic poles and a bottle of juice—insisted he hadn't stolen anything. Instead, he argued that under "street rules," he had the right to perform labor to settle the balance after consuming the items, claiming he intended to "work it off" for the store owner. The responding officer repeatedly clarified that commercial convenience stores do not operate on a barter-for-labor system. The suspect was given clear options: pay for the merchandise immediately or face arrest. As the conversation grew more tense, the suspect complained about the heat, expressed paranoia about bystanders, and eventually stated he would be "happy to go to jail right now." The situation shifted rapidly when a second LRPD officer arrived to assist with the arrest. As officers attempted to secure the man's hands behind his back, the suspect broke free from their grip and fled on foot. The suspect ran directly into active traffic across Shackleford Road, narrowly avoiding vehicles. The pursuing officer drew a Taser and deployed as many as ten times all with zero effect. The suspect ignored the commands to get on the ground, fleeing through nearby commercial parking lots and across a grassy embankment near a Cadence Bank branch while repeatedly calling out "Allah." The pursuit finally concluded in the driveway of a neighboring Hampton Inn & Suites. The suspect eventually complied with commands to get on the ground, though he continued to scream and struggle as multiple backup officers arrived. Officers were ultimately able to secure him in handcuffs and transport him into custody without further incident.
