The Bongi try was already addressed by officials. Barret knocked the ball forward into Bongi who grounded it legally. It was reviewed. This wasn’t.

PSdT drove into Lomax before Savea was back on the ground. In fact you could have penalised any Springbok.

Lomax is always in the way. If you are managing to see something else, I’d be very impressed by your imagination.

I disagree with your comment around Bongi’s try being a mistake. The ball gets dislodged by Barrett’s hand/knee, the ball goes backwards and Bongi falls on the ball and places it on the try line. The ball never goes forward.

Mbomanbi try was good, if you know the laws. 11.5. b. Same result as a chargedown. Ball was ripped, no knock on.

I have to say they did it extremely well this time. Wasn’t as obvious as they have been in the past. Still shouldn’t have been blow. The dark arts of the maul. I know @TankLanning absolutely loves this. 😉

Great explanation. I didn’t see it being mentioned at all the NZ famous show (the reunion ) this morning. Maybe they just missed it like the ref or it wouldn’t fit their narrative.

Gus, can you explain why the Bongi try shouldn't have been given? I'm struggling to see what, specifically, was illegal (or at least clearly illegal enough to overrule an on-field try decision).

It’s been pretty common place for any try scoring effort where a player has “lost control” (which nobody can deny happened) to be ruled out. It’s one of the most common reasons for these sorts of tries being ruled out. “The player lost control” or “the player did not have control when grounding” Which is a fitting way to describe Bongi’s effort.
