@legsidelizzy Lovely idea, but where do you think the money comes from? I can tell you it’s not from BBC, ITV, C4 or C5. Once it’s goes to to free to air all our best players will give up red ball cricket and just play franchise cricket around the world.

Wimbledon is on fta yet tennis playing numbers are dropping. Playing numbers have dropped across all sports, whether always on fta (rugby tennis athletics) or rarely (badminton hockey swim) - and since the early 90s. Theres little link between kids taking up a sport and fta.

I got into cricket 2004 when it was on channel 4 and then absolutely obsessed with it in 2005 Ashes. I never had Sky Sports until I was 30. You can’t grow a stereotypically middle/upper class game by having it on pay subscription TV. The Hundred will do some bits, but not enough

The ECB has so much to answer for. The guardians of the game are the ones guilty of killing the game it’s supposed to protect. The game is being run by people who know nothing of the game. No protection or help for brands or brand owners (I am one) despite multiple challenges…..
