Anytime someone says Teslas cannot handle a natural disaster like a hurricane, I take it VERY personally. I endured a category 5 hurricane while my Tesla Solar and Powerwalls survived 100 MPH SUSTAINED winds for hours, THEN powered my house without any grid power for EIGHT DAYS. My house had roof damage on THE ONLY SIDE WITHOUT SOLAR PANELS. I am convinced the solar panels actually protect your roof. They are impact resistant, stronger than the wood roof that is for sure. One solar panel even was cracked, but it still worked and operated like normal. My system produced solar energy at PEAK levels. The hurricane power washed the solar panels so they were cleaner than they have ever been. Plus, the post hurricane weather was beautiful. It was sunny every single day and the atmosphere was cleansed. I was producing more than enough energy to power the entire house AND charge my Tesla. Being able to enjoy the AC, hot water, cook on the stove, do dishes, wash clothes, EVERYTHING, while my entire neighborhood is completely flooded was a very humbling experience. I still remember the simple joys of being able to make a cup of coffee in the morning when I didn't even have grid power. PRICELESS! The return on investment for Powerwalls is not something you can calculate. It's something you have to EXPERIENCE. Being able to take a hot shower when my neighbors don't have that luxury was something I didn't take for granted. Good news, Tesla is now one step closer to starting construction on a new $10.1 billion solar manufacturing factory near Houston, Texas. The Lamar CISD board has unanimously approved moving forward with a tax incentive agreement for Tesla's proposed "Project Crystal Sun." Lamar board member: “I am ultimately going to support this because I believe a project of this size will be a net positive impact for our county, including the 10,000 jobs. As Tesla becomes a major employer in the county, I really look forward to our students benefitting from that.” Tesla is aiming to start construction this year and finish in 2028, with commercial operations starting in Q1 2029: • Site covers part of roughly 3,000 acres • The project would create 9,712 permanent full-time jobs • Entail a total of ~$10.1B in capital investment • Total direct and indirect economic impact of the project would generate an estimated ~$6.4B in state and local taxes. • It is estimated that the State of Texas would increase its GDP by ~$107 billion as a result of the project. 🚨OFFICIAL: NASA Updates on 3I/ATLAS NASA just updated the official page for 3I/ATLAS. The page includes a tracking tool, that features the assets, and events listed below: NASA Assets Observing Comet 3I/ATLAS NASA's Hubble Space Telescope captured this image of interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS on July 21, 2025, when the comet was 277 million miles from Earth. Hubble revealed a teardrop-shaped cocoon of dust coming off of the comet's solid, icy nucleus. Because Hubble was tracking the comet moving along a hyperbolic trajectory, the stationary background stars are streaked in the exposure. Hubble’s continuing observations allow astronomers to more accurately estimate the size of the comet’s nucleus. Observations as of Aug. 20, 2025, indicate that the upper limit on its diameter is 3.5 miles (5.6 kilometers), though it could be as small as 1,444 feet (440 meters) across. NASA assets that are planning to gather observations of 3I/ATLAS include: Hubble, Webb, TESS, Swift, SPHEREx, Perseverance Mars rover, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, Curiosity rover, Europa Clipper, Lucy, Psyche, Parker Solar Probe, PUNCH, and ESA/NASA’s SOHO and Juice.
