“You are anxious to ask the question and answer it too.” That sharp rebuke from P. Chidambaram to Rajdeep Sardesai perfectly captures the latter’s partisan journalism. More importantly, when asked about Rahul Gandhi’s outrageous allegation in Parliament that Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah had authorised the “firing” on students and should resign, Chidambaram refused to endorse it. His response was telling: “If the Leader of the Opposition made that statement, I assume he will take responsibility for it. I can’t comment on what he said in the Lok Sabha.” That says it all. Even senior Congress leaders are unwilling to stand by Rahul Gandhi’s statements because they know he has a habit of making sensational, unverified allegations. Even his own party no longer takes him seriously. Rahul Gandhi once again chose to use Parliament for grandstanding and slander instead of addressing the genuine concerns of students. Shameful.

It's obvious to the whole country that there is a very serious problem with our examination system. This is not just the question of the NEET but major examinations. Now, the minister has blamed everybody except himself. I don't think he understands the fundamentals of what's going on here. The issue is that there are millions of students in this country who are extremely concerned about what is going on and who are convinced that the Indian examination system is a fraud. Millions of people believe that if you're rich, you can buy the Indian examination system, and this is the same feeling we as the Opposition have.
