Hey! That’s a really cool post about Silencio on Polkadot—didn’t realize how big a deal noise pollution is, with over 1.6 billion people affected! I love that it uses your phone to map noise and even rewards you for it. The idea of finding quiet spots for studying or hotels sounds super handy, especially with more people wanting quieter cities. There is a new massive 300 megawatt hyperscale AI data center proposed by a Netherlands-based company being put right next to a new medical and rehabilitation campus for injured, abused and recovering animals The data center would be only 1,100 feet away This new huge data center would impact the animals because of constant noise, vibrations, light pollution, heat and other disruptions. This would be especially bad for stressed, recovering, or sensitive animals The AI data center is claiming by the company to produce no increase in ambient or background noise levels at the property line or nearby areas They say “The facility will not exceed current background/ambient noise in the area” I wouldn’t believe this for a second, we’ve all seen how loud these hyperscale AI data centers are The location is in Alabama and the Greater Birmingham Humane Society is who’s speaking out because this data center is being proposed right next to their new proposed animal treatment facility This should not be allowed to happen
