For this house was different, it was dark and dreary. I found the home of a soldier, at once I could see clearly. The soldier lay sleeping; silent, alone, curled up on the floor, in this one bedroom home. Not how I pictured a US soldier. A thought about Annaya Chiranjeevi Konidela is always a source of joy. While I walk along the memory lane on this special day ,these are few memories I have tumbled upon. In our childhood, he went away from home to pursue his college education in Narsapur. And his homecoming for summer holidays was a festive season. A big pain and disappointment used to follow when he used to go back for his college. We all used to miss his absence and feel the vacuum. Home was never vibrant till he was back. In my school days, just walking beside him was a proud moment. I used to feel like I am walking with the world's most important person; by then, he was just in college. When he used to ride my father’s bike (Bullet - 350 cc) with his curly long hair, fit NCC Cadet body with bell bottoms and glasses - oh! it was an absolutely fanboy and hero-worshipping moment. My Annaya was always a Hero for me even before he became a Hero. In the early days of his film career, he brought a big blue bag from his first Singapore trip. In that blue bag I found my first tiny Lego helicopter, few remote cars, racing track, some comics, music tapes, tape recorder ,scented Yardley Co. powders, soaps ,few perfumes and other small gifts to others. He always brought us joy and smiles into our small home. In subsequent years, when he got married, I was worried that he would be away from all of us. And I was crying silently in a room. Then he brought my Vadina and said, “Come, I will introduce you to a big man (Pedda Manishi) today.” They both were laughing while they found the reason for my tears. Then, following years, I was taken to Chennai (then Madras) to stay with Annaya and Vadina. I don’t have enough words for the love and care they showered on me. I had seen his struggle, hard work and injuries in shoots. Everyday he used to reach home in the middle of the night after 18 hours shift of laborious work in his sweat-drenched costumes and shoes in the Chennai’s heat and humidity; with hardly any strength to stand… I used to feel guilty for living off on his hard work and sacrifice. But he never even uttered a word about my academic failures and lack of direction in my life. The way he lighted up our family and relatives with his generosity and he extended the same spirit to his friends, producers, film fraternity and everyone he touched. He is one of the primary and key persons who acted as a cultural bridge between the South and Hindi film industry.He always believed in Indian cinema. Pratibandh and Aaj Ka GoondaRaj were two of his blockbusters in Hindi. A tech-savvy person, his astounding medical knowledge, his philanthropic nature, a family man, superstardom to megastardom, Central Cabinet Minister, National Awards, highest civilian honors (Padma Vibhushan). What he hadn’t seen and achieved, but he never rests. After a major spinal operation recently, he bounces back within no time with his strength training and goes back to work. Like a city never sleeps, he’s a man who never rests. He’s born with an unstoppable motor within. That’s why he’s become our beloved ‘Mega Star’ and my only Hero. Ace is coming home!!! Our K9 hero Ace was shot & critically injured protecting deputies and our community on Thursday night……it’s Sunday now, and he’s coming home. The bad guy who shot Ace was eliminated by his handler and two other deputies at the scene. Ace’s life was saved through the incredible work of a whole lot of people: his loyal partner, Deputy Natalie Oestreich, who quickly attended to his wounds & carried him to safety; the amazing staff and Dr. Aguayo at Parkway Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Lakeland who stopped his bleeding & stabilized him; the outstanding Tampa General Hospital @ Aeromed crew who got him quickly & safely to the amazing Veterinary Medical Center at Lakewood Ranch, where Dr. Diaz performed the several-hour-long surgery to amputate Ace’s left front leg. Upon waking from the anesthesia, Ace attempted to walk out of there. He has not been deterred since. In fact he outran the camera attempting to film his release this afternoon! We end the week on a heartbreaking note. You will remember little RPD Stanley from HMPPS Operational Dogs and HMP Wormwood Scrubs. Stanley has not been well for a while now, and we have been supporting him for the last few months, knowing it would give him more time with his devoted Dad and handler Chris, and his partner Karen. They had a lovely Christmas, but Stan has deteriorated over the last week and yesterday, after a day of no yucky meds, and whatever he wanted to eat, he slipped quietly over rainbow bridge at home - surrounded by familiar smells, love, and cuddles. We’ve got to know Chris and Karen so well and our hearts go out to them both. It’s the worst decision to make, all dog owners know that - but they had to do what was best for him. It would have been Stanley’s 11th birthday today. They decided to let him go yesterday, as Karen said, today may have been his earthly birthday, but instead it’s his Birth Day into his new life, and we rather like that thought. Stan served for 9 and a half years - his finds were legendary. Two particularly memorable discoveries: After a search of one cell under suspicion - with nothing found - Stan kept ‘knocking’ on the next door, and Chris suggested they put him in. He popped onto the top bunk, and immediately put his paws on the wall and stared at the light. When they removed the light fitting, contraband ‘ literally rained down’ on them all.. A huge find. Another search, and Stan was ‘knocking’ round the base of the loo. They looked under at the floor - nothing. But Stan was insistent. He was right, the loo bowl had a false bottom, and there it all was. He always found what he was looking for, and it was only due to ill-health he retired. He was brilliant at his job. Sadly, a long retirement was not meant to be, but what an epic life he led - and what a character he was. Happy Birth Day over rainbow bridge little Stan - you will be missed so much. Sleep well, and thank you for your loyal service. 💜🐾🐾💜

Recently, the football world received some devastating news. Chris Johnson — the man we all know as CJ2K — has been diagnosed with ALS. Before we dive into that, let’s retrace our steps a little bit. In March of 2015, a vehicle occupied by Chris Johnson stopped at a red light. A 2nd vehicle rolled up beside them and opened fire, filling Chris's vehicle with holes. The driver was killed in the shooting, while Chris was hit in the arm. But the shot was more serious than a typical flesh wound. There was severe nerve damage. It was so bad that Chris thought his career might be over. “I was contemplating retirement,” he said. “Knowing if I can't use this hand, I can’t play football no more. “So much pain. My hand was so f----d up. I couldn’t touch nothing. I couldn’t use nothing.” Chris eventually regained use of his hand and rushed for 814 yards in just 11 games. He’d play a few more seasons after this, and then he'd retire after a total of 10 seasons in the NFL. During that time, he made an All-Pro, 3 Pro Bowls, and led the NFL in rushing yards with his legendary 2000-yard season. He broke and still holds the yards-from-scrimmage record, and he also had 500 rec yards that year. In retirement Chris was enjoying his family, his kids, and his wife. Lifting up his daughter to blow out candles on her birthday cake, and working out and staying in solid dad shape. And after a lifetime of watching film, he’d taken an interest in scouting. So 2 years ago Chris had it all going for his post-football career. Taking care of the family and even looking into a second career. But then something changed. In 2025, Chris had a flashback. But not of his time on the field. "I first noticed weakness in my right hand," he said. "At first, it was little things like my grip didn't feel right and I wasn't as strong as I've always been." After a series of tests, a doctor told Chris that medication may extend his life but just by a few months. Then he gave advice that no one ever wants to hear from a doctor. He told Chris that he and his wife should get their affairs in order. ALS is a degenerative neurological disorder that shuts your body down piece by piece, eventually leading to complete paralysis, and as of now no cure has been found. In a cruel twist of fate, the fastest running back to ever play the position has developed one of the fastest-moving cases of ALS, as it typically takes 2-5 years to spread, but has left Chris almost completely paralyzed just one year after he noticed his first symptom.
