Silk Board 2.0? New Flyover Risks Becoming Next Traffic Hotspot Traffic management in Bengaluru is becoming increasingly difficult despite big infrastructure projects. The recently opened double-decker flyover was expected to ease congestion, but within days, traffic has already started building up again. This raises a serious concern are we actually solving the problem or just shifting it? For years Silk board Junction, has been a symbol of endless traffic. Now, even with new developments, the situation risks repeating itself. If such congestion continues, future plans like tunnel roads could become even more problematic, with the danger of vehicles getting stuck inside enclosed spaces during peak hours. Bengaluru doesn’t just need bigger projects it needs smarter solutions. Improving public transport, enforcing traffic rules, introducing intelligent signal systems, and promoting staggered office hours can make a real difference. Without proper planning and accountability, even the biggest projects will fail, and new roads will only add to the city’s growing traffic crisis. Karnataka State Police S. This is exactly why I keep saying, Lets focus on the basics before chasing mega projects because of our population 😢🥺💔 Just look at the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge. A multi-billion-naira piece of infrastructure built under Fashola, properly maintained under Ambode, and now showing signs of neglect, with grass literally growing around parts of the bridge. How did we get here? I appreciate the infrastructure this administration is trying to build, but what is the point of new projects when the infrastructure we already have is deteriorating? Lagos needs a serious maintenance culture. Fix the roads, clean the city, enforce environmental standards, landscape public spaces and maintain existing infrastructure before embarking on endless ribbon-cutting projects. Road infrastructure and environmental aesthetics can transform Lagos way more in this digital age. They improve quality of life, attract global tourism, unlock investment and make skilled Nigerians and foreigners want to stay, invest and bring their families here. Investors don't just need mega projects; they need a city that is clean, functional, safe and pleasant to live in. And I understand that infrastructure is expensive, especially with today's exchange rate. That is why Govt should also consider bringing back tolls on suitable roads and using the revenue specifically for maintenance. Lagos has the population, talent, investment, connectivity and economic potential. What it needs is disciplined management. Success attracts both people who want to build and those who want to exploit or destroy; government must protect the city while supporting those contributing positively to it. So, to the current governor: Sir please, look around Lagos before you leave office. You have done things worth appreciating, but the environmental and maintenance decline needs urgent attention. Leave the next administration a city that is properly maintained, not one where infrastructure built by previous governments is allowed to deteriorate. And to whoever becomes governor in 2027: please sir make maintenance, roads, environmental aesthetics, law and order your priority before chasing more mega projects. Give Lagos a clean, beautiful and functional environment, and you will have a legacy people can actually see and feel. Lagos has not reached its prime. We can build on what we already have and make it even better than the Lagos of Fashola and Ambode. Integrated Flyover to Ease Travel and Enhance Mobility! Inaugurated and unveiled the stone plaque of the Savitribai Phule Pune University Square Integrated Double-Decker Flyover (Aundh to Shivajinagar), in Pune today. The flyover has been constructed to address long-term traffic management at University square (Chowk) and Ganeshkhind Road, providing a sustainable solution to congestion in this busy area. One side of the flyover, from Aundh to Shivajinagar, has already been opened for traffic. The ramps on the Shivajinagar and Aundh sides are complete, while the remaining ramps at Baner and Pashan are planned to be finished by October 2025. The flyover has been developed as an alternative arrangement to reduce traffic jams and improve flow. This project has been designed to ensure smoother and safer commuting for citizens and is part of a larger vision to enhance urban mobility. This project is more than concrete and steel. It directly benefits citizens by making daily travel easier and more convenient. Every step, from planning to construction, has focused on safety, efficiency and improving the lives of those who use this route daily. With initiatives like this, the city moves forward, delivering progress that serves the people. Why Hyderabad Drowns After A 20min Rain? I may not have a simple answer to this complex question but was in Raidurgam area yesterday and this what I saw. This is right next to the Raidurgam metro. It is like the IT hub of Hyderabad and look at the state of things here. Roads are being dug to lay drainage pipes. Locals told me it has been close to a year since they started digging. The debris is just lying on the road, existing drainage seems to be damaged and all the sewer is flowing on to the main road. To make things worse, many are parking right on the road making the congested area much more difficult to commute. There is no parking space at Raidurgam Metro. If someone wants to take the metro, they have to arrive on a separate vehicle to reach. Plus there are a million autos lined up on the road. Traffic police who hide behind trees or corner you in some random street won’t regulate traffic on the main roads. They won’t show a solution to park vehicles but will collect challans. Why are you collecting challans without any space being earmarked for parking? Do you expect people to jump off a parachute and get into a metro? We look at China, Japan with their advanced technology of laying roads in a day and will be wowed. Here governments talk about AI city, Future City and such money minting projects for the government and still get wowed. Why isn’t AI or advanced technology being used to repair roads, drainages or maintain infrastructure in the existing city??? Why this craze to call the existing city a dump and then pumping huge public money into a nonexistent Future City? Why is governance driven by real estate ambitions of a few politicians?
