@simonlast The framing I keep landing on: agents are fast at producing and slow at agreeing. Docs and databases survive because they're the one place a human and an agent can disagree about the same object, in public, and settle it. Structure isn't storage. It's the agreement layer.

The real skill will shift from execution to orchestration. Knowing what to ask. Structuring problems clearly. Making high-leverage decisions while fleets of agents handle the heavy lifting. Managers of intelligence instead of producers of output.

The common rule of thumb—give AI routine work and leave complex work to people—only gets you so far. Paula Goldman, Salesforce’s chief ethical and humane use officer, says leaders also need to consider factors like customer and employee preferences and emotions, as well as the sensitivity of the work. As AI becomes more capable, managers may need to rethink their role, too.
