Democracy in our region is best protected through early coordination, trust, and decisive collective action. At a joint press briefing with my Beninese counterpart, H.E. Olushegun ADJADI BAKARI, we reflected on the swift coordination between Nigeria and Benin that helped prevent an unconstitutional attempt to undermine democracy in Benin. From the outset, close communication between our governments and relevant agencies enabled a fast, aligned response. It is violating the territorial integrity and sovereignty of a nation-state called Syria, and it is occupying it. We are facing coordinated attacks by criminal gangs who are exploiting ungoverned spaces in the North West and North Central, but the government is not folding its arms. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered intensified operations in the affected corridors, including the deployment of special forces, expansion of intelligence networks, and disruption of the ransom economy that funds these groups. The military and security agencies are already carrying out targeted strikes on identified camps, rescue missions, and blocking movements along major forest routes. I made it clear that the President is fully engaged with state governors, service chiefs, and local security formations to close the security gaps and take back control of vulnerable communities. Nigeria is going through a difficult phase, but the government is responding with urgency, coordination, and a renewed determination to end these attacks and protect every Nigerian life.

The exercise demonstrated a high level of readiness, efficiency, and discipline, and confirmed the professionalism this elite force has achieved through advanced training and qualification programs. These programs were conducted with direct support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to whom we extend our sincere thanks and deep appreciation for their ongoing and genuine support in building the capabilities of Yemeni state institutions, particularly the security and military apparatus. ● Counterterrorism efforts must be managed exclusively through legitimate state institutions, within a clear legal and institutional framework that guarantees the rule of law, protects citizens' rights, and prevents a descent into chaos and the proliferation of power centers. Experience has proven that any security efforts carried out outside the authority of the state only complicate the situation, expand the scope of violations, and undermine opportunities for stability. The security lapses we have witnessed in some areas are a direct result of bypassing state institutions and operating outside their legitimate framework. ● The state affirms its unwavering commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms through an effective partnership and close coordination with the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and in cooperation with the international community.
