27 year old James Piot won the US Amateur in 2021 before joining LIV Golf in 2022. He then signed for Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers in 2023, but was released at the end of that season. He’s played a mix of Asian Tour events and PGA Tour Americas over the last two years and this week he’s tied for the lead after three rounds of the Moutai Singapore Open, alongside Jeunghan Wang and Soomin Lee. Tomorrow, he’ll not only be looking for his best ever finish on the Asian Tour, but a win would put him into contention to potentially get one of the two spots available via The International Series for the 2026 LIV Golf League. This is why authentic pathways are so important, give players the opportunities to play their way back. It’s good to see James playing well and hopefully he has a low one on Sunday.

Get to know - Kristoffer Reitan -- solo leader Truist Championship Born in 1998 in Oslo, Norway Introduced to the game by his father. His individual amateur titles include: Valderrama Boys Invitational Italian International U16 Championship Skania Junior Open Junior Orange Bowl Championship He grew up representing Norway and was frequently on the same national teams as Viktor Hovland. They won the 2014 Toyota Junior World Cup, a year after they finished runner-up at the European Boys Team Championship Reitan reached quarterfinals of the 2015 US Junior Amateur where Hovland was his caddie. He represented Team Europe at the 2016 Junior Ryder Cup and was one of only three visiting players to claim victory in the singles session. While still being an amateur, Reitan became the first Norwegian to qualify for the U.S. Open in 2018. With teams releasing their schedules for next season, I'd love to see more weeknight games. The BC-Providence game I attended this year was too good an atmosphere not to showcase.

When the German team won the world cup in 2014, the media immediately criticized the team for being "still too White/German". There wasn't "enough" Arab/African "representation". So Germany Africanized its team. Result: Paraguay, with perhaps a whiter team, eliminates Germany. Problem is not only importation of Africans. Native young white players sense the system prefers diversity and "dynamic" Africans. This is terrible since European players are superior. The pure German teams of the past won the most word cups. But FIFA wants to Africanize soccer in order to create impression that African immigration is wonderful. I am glad Paraguay won. They have a real national team.

Real Club Valderrama hosted its first event on the LIV Golf League in 2023 and has been a staple on the schedule since. The GM, Javier Reviriego, says they are very happy with their partnership and they will be looking to renew their contract when it’s up next season. Speaking to Flushing It Golf, Javier said: “We're very happy. I mean, for us, the event has been great, giving us a lot of visibility. “The best thing is to have these great players here. I mean, these players, we would have never dreamed of having them here in a DP World Tour event. That's a fact. “And we couldn't dream of bringing a PGA Tour event to Spain because I don't think that was ever going to happen either. So, we wanted this quality of players, and there was no choice, really.” LIV Golf Andalucía is just 5 weeks away and the build out is currently going up all over the course, with a huge hospitality area on the bank behind the 17th green striking an imposing presence. Advertising boards promoting the event greet arrivals at Gibraltar Airport and they are in the process of thickening the rough to make the course as challenging as ever. Javier says he has spoken to league executives who assure him it’s business as usual and Valderrama are even considering some renovations to the golf course to help improve the venue for future years. He’s finished top 10 in multiple PGA Tour events as well. The real question is will he go back to college or turn pro? This was a dirty low cut wedge. Can’t wait for y’all to see this one Monday
