Mamdani: PTET is essentially a loophole that allows high-income earners to reduce their federal tax burden. Who benefits? Millionaires and multimillionaires. More than 95% of PTET credits go to those making more than $1 million a year. More than 80% go to those earning more than $5 million a year. The PTET, in short, is a tax cut for the rich. We are not calling to eliminate the credit. We are instead asking the state for a modest reduction from 100% to 75%—that change alone will generate nearly $1 billion in additional revenue, revenue we can invest in buses that carry New Yorkers to work, the public schools that educate our children, and the public parks and beaches where we spend our summers.

Only 8 million people pay for the entire United Kingdom. The UK has 70 million people. 40 million pay no tax at all. Of the 30 million who do, only 8 million pay more into the system than they take out. They are funding a government that keeps importing more people who take more out than they put in. This is pure economic and civilizational suicide of the UK.

The decision by the Western Washington Fair Association to deny the Pierce County Republican Party's longstanding fair booth is deeply disappointing and wholly unjustifiable. For years, the Pierce Gop booth has provided a valuable, peaceful opportunity for community members to engage in open dialogue, learn about local issues, and exercise their right to free expression. To summarily exclude a major political organization without cause undermines the principles of fairness, inclusivity, and civic participation that the fair is supposed to represent. Such an action sends a troubling message that certain viewpoints are not welcome, eroding trust in our public institutions and diminishing the diversity of perspectives that make our community strong. The Western Washington Fair Association should reconsider this shortsighted ban and reaffirm its commitment to free and open civic engagement.
