GBA is clearing encroachments from footpaths in Basavanagudi. This action should be implemented uniformly across the city, not just in front of small vendors. At the same time, authorities must address critical civic issues such as potholes and rainwater-related problems that continue to affect citizens daily. #Bengaluru #Basavanagudi Maheshwar...

Throwing garbage carelessly on roads, footpaths, and public spaces and then blaming bbmpcommissioner and Maheshwar Rao.M, IAS is not a solution. Civic responsibility begins with the people. Cleanliness is not only the duty of the administration; it is a basic civic sense that every citizen must practice. Dumping waste “here and there” reflects negligence, indiscipline, and a complete lack of respect for the city we live in. At the same time, civic sense cannot grow in isolation. It is also a genuine request and responsibility of BBMP and GBA to provide proper infrastructure for waste disposal. If garbage bins are placed on every street, at regular and accessible points, people will be far more likely to use them instead of littering the roads. Public convenience plays a critical role in shaping public behavior. So the real question is not one-sided blame. Is it the fault of citizens who lack discipline and basic civic sense? Or is it the fault of the administration for failing to provide essential facilities and systems? The truth is, both share responsibility. Citizens must stop using the absence of bins as an excuse to litter. Carrying waste home or disposing of it properly is a small but necessary act of responsibility. Clean cities are built by mindful citizens, not by slogans and complaints alone. However, authorities like BBMP and Greater Bengaluru Authority must also step up by ensuring adequate bins on every road, regular waste collection, awareness campaigns, and strict enforcement of rules. Only when civic sense from the people and efficient administration from authorities come together can we expect clean streets, healthier surroundings, and a city we can truly be proud of.Cleanliness is not optional. It is a shared duty, and blaming alone will never clean our roads. Karnataka State Police S. Buy a Boat, Not a Bike: Bengaluru’s New Monsoon Survival Kit Under D.K. Shivakumar Is this the “Brand Bengaluru” we were promised? The monsoon hasn’t even arrived in full force, yet Bengaluru is already drowning. Roads across the city are waterlogged, resembling rivers more than streets. Vehicles—cars, bikes, and autos are stuck or submerged, and the entire city has come to a standstill after just a few spells of rain. If this is the condition before the monsoon has properly begun, what should citizens expect in the coming weeks? Maheshwar Rao.M, IAS has completely failed in its basic responsibility of maintaining the city’s infrastructure. Drainage systems are either clogged or non-functional, roads are crumbling, and sanitation is in shambles. Instead of preparing the city for rains, it seems the BBMP has turned a blind eye to the worsening condition of Bengaluru. And what is DK Shivakumar doing? As Deputy CM and the face of the “Brand Bengaluru” campaign, shouldn’t he be taking accountability? Or is the campaign just another PR stunt while citizens suffer on a daily basis? Should Bengaluru’s citizens now buy boats to navigate through flooded streets? Is this the future of urban mobility in a so-called tech capital? It's high time strict action is taken. DK Shivakumar must stop making announcements and start delivering results. He must hold Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike accountable, initiate immediate emergency reforms, and ensure that the administration is made to remember its actual duties serving the people, not ignoring them. #bengaluru #bangalore #BengaluruRains #bangalorerains Maheshwar Rao.M, IAS Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike DK Shivakumar ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ನಗರ ಪೊಲೀಸ್‌ BengaluruCityPolice ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಸಂಚಾರ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ BengaluruTrafficPolice CP Bengaluru ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಆಯುಕ್ತ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು Joint CP, Traffic, Bengaluru alok kumar DGP KARNATAKA S. While Bengaluru citizens continue to suffer from water-logged roads, choked drains, and urban flooding, here’s the real reason behind the mess our lakes are not just encroached or neglected, they’re being deliberately turned into dumping grounds by the very people responsible for maintaining the city.Just look at this Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike workers shamelessly throwing garbage into Herohalli Lake. Yes, you read that right. Instead of preserving water bodies, they’re actively polluting them. This is not just negligence it’s a blatant act of environmental destruction. We’re constantly told about “Smart City” missions, lake rejuvenation projects, and sustainable urban development, but this is what’s happening on the ground. Lakes, which should serve as natural buffers for rainwater, are being filled with garbage. Is it any surprise then that the city gets submerged every time it rains? Maheshwar Rao.M, IAS does your team have any basic civic sense or accountability? Is this what taxpayers are funding? Is there any protocol, supervision, or responsibility in place at all? Or has BBMP simply given up on governance? Bengaluru doesn’t deserve this kind of mismanagement. Citizens are doing clean-up drives, raising complaints, and trying to protect the environment while BBMP workers are out there undoing all the good work. We demand immediate action. The workers involved must be held accountable, disciplinary steps must be taken, and the lake must be cleaned and restored. Stop ruining what little is left of Bengaluru’s natural ecosystem. If BBMP can’t even protect a lake, what can it manage #bangalorerains #bangalorerains #bbmp #silkboard #bengaluru #bangalore Maheshwar Rao.M, IAS Tushar Giri Nath, IAS Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike
