Drone footage shows the monks crossing over the Catawba River into Fort Mill, South Carolina. The Walk for Peace is a 120-day pilgrimage that began in the Huong Dao Buddhist Temple in Fort Worth, Texas, on Oct. 26.

The robot was given the dharma name ‘Gabi’ as it attended a ceremony dressed in traditional Buddhist robes and a kasaya, joining monks in prayer with its palms pressed together in the courtyard of Daeungjeon Hall at Jogyesa Temple. The “sugye” ceremony is a Buddhist ritual in which participants pledge devotion to Buddha.

I am appalled by the recent events in #Kurunthoormalai as the Sri Lankan state is preventing the Tamil people from practicing their religion at the ancient Aathi Sivan Ayyanar Temple. Over the past years, this site as been continously desecrated despite multiple court orders to respect the site. In the past few days, over 100 police officers and Buddhist monks are preventing the festivities through violent aggression and force, denying Tamil people the universal freedom to worship. This is not the first time that the Sri Lankan state has desecrated ancient Tamil worship sites, as #culturalgenocide is an ongoing reality for the Tamil people. #TamilGenocide
