July 2 2025: Coalition adopt ADC, Ralph Nwosu and NWC leaders resigned handing over to David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola. July 30 2025: Nafiu Bala announce self as Interim National Party Chairman. July 31: ADC David Mark faction released Bala’s signed resignation dated May 18. August 1: Bala denied, said it was forged. And on July 2 Ralph Nwosu left him incharge until next convention. 27 August: Bala declares himself Party Chairman following the resignation of Ralph Nwosu and all Exco’s — Based on party laws; the leadership falls to the deputy chairman, him. David Mark Faction replied with CTC showing INEC already acknowledged his resignation and Mark as party Chairman, since August 12. 2 September: Bala files an ex parte to restrain Mark’s factions from parading as leaders and a subsequent motion barring them from holding meeting, congress or convention pending court ruling. — Granted. 4 September: Court directs INEC and David Mark be notified of the motions. 18 December: David Mark file an appeal challenging Federal High Court’s jurisdiction to handle the party leadership matter. 12 March 2026: Court of Appeal rejects the appeal, upholds Nafiu Bala’s motions and directs the High Court to expedite judgement as election is near. While granting the Bala’s motions compels INEC to temporarily disrecognize both factions, block both factions from events and retain status quo ante bellum, not just status quo, pending high court decision. Meaning, everything should go back to how it was before September 2 when chaos and court case started. April 1: INEC delisted African Democratic Congress, as ordered by court of appeal. April 2: ADC accuse Tinubu of destabilizing democracy by using state tools to remove disenfranchise opposition, demanded Amupitan’s resignation for interpreting court judgement with bias, vows to continue with Congress and convention scheduled for April 9. Today April 3: INEC chairman Amupitan denies working for Tinubu, says they’re only obeying direct court instructions, and if ADC proceeds with events and eventually wins, they’d be disqualified like it happened in Zamfara. He advised them to go to court which will be quick, since Court of Appeal already directed a swift proceeding. Reaction: patriotic Nigerians say they now understand INEC, others insist it is a plot for one-party state.
