Slade's Flame Soundtrack Ballad How Does It Feel released as the second single from the band's first soundtrack album and fifth studio album Slade in Flame on February 7, 1975 in promotion of the film of the same name. The song was written by lead vocalist Noddy Holder and... bassist Jim Lea, and produced by Chas Chandler. It reached No. 15 in the UK, remaining in the charts for seven weeks. The melody for "How Does It Feel" was the first one Lea composed while still in school. He conceived the idea on an old piano, which he later described as missing half its keys. Although the tune didn't progress further at that time, Lea revisited it later for the theme of Flame. Holder wrote the lyrics, and it became "How Does It Feel". The song included a brass section performed by members of Gonzalez. In the band's 1984 biography, Feel the Noize!, Lea recalled, "It was an old song I'd written, and Nod added some great lyrics to it. Tommy Vance said it was good but warned we might face challenges. However, I didn't care whether it was number one or number 15... to me, it was a much better record than we'd made before, and that was all I cared about." "You're the Inspiration" was originally written for Kenny Rogers! David Foster was in the studio with Kenny and asked Peter Cetera to create a song. Cetera made the basis of chords, traveled to Italy, finished the lyrics inspired by the baroque rooms and works of Michelangelo ("Michelangelo, you should know..." became "You're the inspiration"), but Kenny ended up not recording. Peter and David took the track back, re-recorded it for Chicago 17 (1984) and made it one of the band's biggest hits of the 80s (#3 on the Billboard Hot 100). It was one of the last big hits with Peter Cetera before he left the band in 1985.

47 years passed since its first appearance but its impact is still the same as it was in the first place. It was May the 16th, 1978, just before 3 days from the release of Dire Straits' epic single 'Sultans of Swing' which is in their self-titled album. The band took the stage live at The Old Grey Whistle Test and performed that legendary, invaluable, and amazing song, Sultans of Swing. This footage is one of the earliest footage of the band and it is beyond perfection since there was no release back in that time from Dire Straits. The band's sound, playing, and whole live performance is just obviously amazing and it also sounds as great as the album version. What an incredible live performance!
