I believe the police vehicle is at fault for going through the red light despite their lights and siren were on. It’s their responsibility to check if there are no cross traffic approaching if they are going to go through the red.

Why didn't the cop see the vehicle coming from the lane of traffic he was crossing? He had as much and more obligation to be paying attention, in BOTH directions, as he crossed right-of-way traffic Was this also another drunk Aurora cop?

Thanks to the real-time use of technology and diligent, on scene investigative work of our officers on patrol and in the Real Time Information Center, 30-year-old Rafael Gutierrez of Sacramento was identified as the suspect in this hit-and-run collision. Shortly after leaving the collision, officers located Gutierrez at a nearby hospital and arrested him on charges related to felony hit-and-run, reckless driving, and driving while his license is suspended/revoked. Houston, Texas — Police Officers were dispatched to a crash on the freeway and learned that there had been a minor vehicle crash involving three vehicles. Two of the vehicles remained on the scene however a third vehicle had fled the location. Officers then moved the crash off the freeway and put a general broadcast over the radio for the possible third vehicle – a green SUV. Additional officers were able to locate the green SUV vehicle in the area and officers made contact with the driver. Turns out hiding under a trampoline isn't much of a plan when we've got eyes in the sky… Just before 11 p.m. last Friday, our officers received a Flock Safety alert on a stolen Hyundai Tucson traveling through Aurora. With real-time updates from our Real Time Information Center (RTIC), officers safely tracked the vehicle before deploying a Grappler to bring it to a controlled stop near Montview Boulevard and Iola Street. That's when everyone decided to make a run for it. All in different directions. But we had the manpower for that. Two juvenile passengers were quickly taken into custody after short foot pursuits. The driver had a different idea. After hopping multiple fences, he crawled underneath a backyard trampoline hoping officers wouldn't find him. Unfortunately for him, our drone was still watching. Officers immediately established a perimeter while RTIC and our drone team guided officers on the ground. Working alongside our K9 Unit, the driver was located and taken into custody without incident. A search of the stolen vehicle also uncovered a firearm and spent shell casings. The 18-year-old driver was arrested on probable cause of motor vehicle theft, obstructing a peace officer, second degree criminal trespass and driving while revoked. Two juvenile passengers were also arrested on probable cause including motor vehicle trespassing and obstructing a peace officer. Both also had outstanding warrants. From Flock alerts and the RTIC to the Grappler, drones, K9s and good old-fashioned police work, this arrest is another example of how technology and teamwork help our officers safely take suspects into custody and keep Aurora safe. Heck of a way to start a Tuesday. 🚨 While you were sleeping, patrol officers in two districts were dispatched to a home in the 2400 block of South Memphis Way for a report of an in-progress burglary. While en route, our officers learned that a suspect had previously kicked in the door to the occupied residence earlier in the night, and had now returned, trying to reenter the home, but couldn't... Maybe he started to panic when he heard our sirens approaching quickly. 🚔 What's worse is he was possibly armed with a shotgun. We got a vehicle description and attempted a traffic stop on the car, which was parked right outside the home. But that driver instead decided to flee. ➡️ After a short pursuit, our officers used a PIT maneuver to stop the car near the intersection of E. 6th Ave. and Nucla Way. Two people ran from the vehicle and one immediately surrendered at the vehicle. The driver, who was also the main suspect of the burglary, was caught after a foot chase that tested everyone’s cardio. The passenger who ran was also captured, but his route was considerably shorter. Yup, we got all three. 💪 The driver, identified as 33-year-old Anthony Mestas-Herrera, was wearing rifle plates and dropped both a shotgun and handgun when he ran from the car following the PIT. He was subsequently arrested for 2nd degree burglary, kidnapping, vehicular eluding and obstruction. He also has a lengthy criminal history to include 1st degree homicide, 2nd degree assault on a peace officer, drug distribution, multiple motor vehicle theft charges, and more. Can't stop, won't stop. On Thursday, during the height of rush hour, a vehicle theft suspect decided it was a good idea to try and run from the police. He sped through heavy, busy intersections attempting to avoid us and get away. When his car finally came to a stop, he booked it out of the vehicle. But APD? Can't stop, won't stop. Our officers were right on his heals and nabbed him in less than 25 seconds. Cory Thompson, 36, was subsequently arrested on charges of motor vehicle theft, felony eluding, criminal possession of a financial transaction device, possession of dangerous drugs and driving without a license. Shockingly, this wasn’t the first time Thompson had a run-in with APD. Dating to Christmas Day 2022, we’ve arrested Thompson SEVEN times. All seven of those arrests involved stolen vehicles that were either taken from members of our community or our neighbors in the Denver metro. Heck of a run, but not fast enough. Due to the reckless behavior and risk to the public, officers did not engage in a pursuit. Multiple drones were deployed remotely from docking locations throughout the city by a single Drone as First Responder (DFR) pilot, allowing officers to maintain continuous visual contact with the vehicle as it drove recklessly across Redmond. With assistance from aerial support, officers tracked the vehicle as it continued driving dangerously through the area, including SR-520 and downtown Redmond. Spike strips were successfully deployed, and the vehicle was later located at an apartment complex. Officers conducted a high-risk stop, and the driver was taken into custody without incident. The individual was arrested for eluding a police vehicle and further investigated for DUI. The driver was under the legal drinking age, and an open alcoholic beverage was found inside the vehicle. The individual was also driving with a suspended license. This type of reckless driving puts everyone at risk. Thank you to assisting units for their coordinated response.

Albuquerque, New Mexico — Police received a call from an employee at a gas station who said a vehicle had been parked at the gas pump for several hours. The caller said the vehicle was not running, and she could barely see the driver because of the dark, tinted windows. She asked for officers to check on the driver. Officers arrived and ran the license plate and determined the registered owner of the car was Keshawn Thomas. Officers discovered the driver, later confirmed to be Thomas, was asleep in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Officers noticed alcohol, including an open container, inside the vehicle. They determined that since the vehicle was not running, they did not have charges for drunk driving. Officers decided they would tell Thomas he needed to have someone come and pick up the car. They woke Thomas and asked him to exit the vehicle and take a seat. They told Thomas not to start the car and told him he was not in trouble. Thomas exited the vehicle but declined to sit down. An officer asked Thomas what he was doing with open containers in the car and pointed out he was drunk, and had been passed out for several hours. Officers later told investigators that they detected signs of intoxication during the encounter. An officer told him he should not be driving drunk because he could hurt himself or others. Thomas and officers argued with each other, and as the conversation became more heated, an additional officer was requested for assistance. Thomas sat in the driver’s seat of his vehicle with the door open and appeared to be searching the interior of the car. Officers directed him to get his phone and exit the vehicle. After about 30 second, one of the officers called out that Thomas had a gun. All three officers fired their handguns, striking Thomas. He died at the scene.

Officers arrived and ran the license plate and determined the registered owner of the car was Keshawn Thomas. Officers discovered the driver, later confirmed to be Thomas, was asleep in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Officers noticed alcohol, including an open container, inside the vehicle. They determined that since the vehicle was not running, they did not have charges for drunk driving. Officers decided they would tell Thomas he needed to have someone come and pick up the car. They woke Thomas and asked him to exit the vehicle and take a seat. They told Thomas not to start the car and told him he was not in trouble. Thomas exited the vehicle but declined to sit down. An officer asked Thomas what he was doing with open containers in the car and pointed out he was drunk, and had been passed out for several hours. Officers later told investigators that they detected signs of intoxication during the encounter. An officer told him he should not be driving drunk because he could hurt himself or others. Thomas and officers argued with each other, and as the conversation became more heated, an additional officer was requested for assistance. Thomas sat in the driver’s seat of his vehicle with the door open and appeared to be searching the interior of the car. Officers directed him to get his phone and exit the vehicle. After about 30 second, one of the officers called out that Thomas had a gun. All three officers fired their handguns, striking Thomas. He died at the scene.

When you threaten and rob a hard-working community member, Aurora PD will arrest you. Period. On Sunday, April 26 just after 3:20 a.m., Aurora911 received a call for help from an employee at a business on the 14000 block of East Colfax Avenue. The employee stated there were two male suspects inside the store trying to steal items. The employee stated that one of them had come up to her and threatened to shoot her if she kept speaking to the police. Absolutely not. Officers arrived on scene and, thanks to a detailed description of the suspect vehicle by the employee that had just been threatened and robbed, we began to follow a sedan trying to leave the area. A pursuit was initiated and eventually was successfully and safely terminated in an empty parking lot along East Mississippi Avenue using a PIT maneuver. Three suspects attempted to flee, but were ultimately detained by responding officers. All three are teenagers, and all are Aurora residents. A lost gun out of Arapahoe County was discovered in the possession of one of the juveniles. Each was subsequently arrested on suspicion of their connection to the crime, and potential charges include aggravated robbery, vehicular eluding, obstruction and possession of a handgun by a juvenile. We can’t stress this enough – getting your kicks by committing crimes isn’t worth it. And also, these three were out way past their bedtime. We *want* you to succeed in life – this just isn’t the way to do it.

Last week, APD officers tracking a stolen vehicle were attacked by several minor-aged criminal offenders. More than 20 rounds of gunfire were fired at our officers, prompting a multi-jurisdictional pursuit that traveled through portions of Aurora and Denver. Today, we are sharing some of the body-worn camera video from the incident. The Aurora Police Department commends the actions of our officers, as well as our partners from the Denver Police Department, who displayed the utmost poise and professionalism while responding without hesitation to a violent and life-threatening situation. Ultimately, four teenage suspects were taken into custody without a use of force. Several firearms believed to be used in the attack on our officers were also recovered. The suspects, aged 15 and 16, are not being identified because they are minors. They all have now been formally charged with two counts each of attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer, and one count each of aggravated motor vehicle theft and second-degree burglary, among other charges. #CommunityCommitment #APDInAction

Delhi Police! OP: "This Officer should be Suspend" "This happened just now. I was going from my home towards Kalkaji with my brother on a scooter. We were just riding normally when some police officers stopped us. They were not traffic police; they were regular police officers. We were simply riding on the scooter without helmet and just left from our home and had not done anything wrong. They stopped us without giving any reason." This is completely unacceptable. The police treated us very badly and behaved in a rude and disrespectful manner. I have a video of the incident. While our scooter was moving, one of the officers suddenly took the key out of the ignition. This caused us to lose balance. We could have fallen, been seriously injured, and even caused an accident because there was traffic behind us. They did not introduce themselves or properly ask for any documents. Instead, they acted arrogantly, misused their authority, and behaved disrespectfully. They then took our scooter and left us stranded in the middle of the road. We even asked them to do a penalty or challan against our vehicle for helmet violation but they ask for bribe. We had important work to attend, but because of their actions, we were left helpless. This kind of behavior is irresponsible, dangerous, and completely unacceptable

Two SAPS officers were rescued on Tuesday after a mob surrounded their vehicle in Ndwedwe and threatened to set it alight while they transported a murder suspect.
