5 Facts you didn't want to know about Alien Breed for the Commodore Amiga Alien Breed (1991) is a landmark Amiga title that defined Team17’s early style: tense, atmospheric, and brutally addictive. It was perfect for co-op gaming with mates. Programmed by Andreas Tadic and Peter Tuleby, with graphics by Rico Holmes and iconic music by Allister Brimble. 1. Top-down run-and-gun sci-fi shooter heavily inspired by Aliens: You (and a friend in co-op) explore an infested space station, blasting xenomorph-like aliens (I originally thought they were aliens) while managing limited ammo and health. It mixes fast arcade action with tense resource management. 2. Team17’s breakthrough hit: This was only their second game, after Full Contact, and their first full-price release. It put the UK developer and publisher on the map, before they became famous for the Worms series. 3. Extremely well-received on Amiga: Launched to critical acclaim, with many magazines scoring it 85–91% (CVG 91%, Zero 91%, CU Amiga 90%, Amiga Action 87%). It was usually praised for its smooth multi-directional scrolling, atmosphere, co-op play, and technical excellence on the Amiga. 4. Our last evacuation from Bakhmut. The night before we brought out the charred remains of Sergey, whose family refused to evacuate without his body. En route to them, we luckily escaped incoming S-300s in Chasov Yar. Little elsewhere but at war do you truly feel the magnitude of a second, often the literal difference between life and death. In Bakhmut, the grandma refused to evacuate - despite her relatives leaving, despite her dead grandson laying in a morgue, despite there being no future there. She chose to remain in the burnt out city under constant shelling, without electricity, water or a phone connection… With many thanks to the 93rd Brigade and my incredible team for making these evacuations possible. Anyway, as many of you know, the war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has been raging for over 14 months now. It has been devastating as part of the Sudanese diaspora to watch our beloved country burn to the ground and our people be killed, tortured, r*ped and starved to 💀. The humanitarian crises + widespread atrocities have resulted in over 10 million people displaced, making Sudan the most significant displacement crisis globally, with an additional 3 million people homeless due to previous conflicts, mainly in Darfur. Close to 25 million Sudanese are now in need of humanitarian assistance – including an estimated 5 million facing severe levels of hunger. My mum’s family is from Hillat Khogali, a village in Bahiri, a city in Khartoum State, lying north of Khartoum city, the capital of Sud*n. It is under UAE-Backed Rapid Support Forces control, and they have been terrorising our village for the last 14 months. For eight months of those 14 months, my father was in the town, seeing the crimes of RSF firsthand. They ransacked our home, beat him up and stole his car at gunpoint. But my father is one of the lucky ones as he has left Sudan and is now in Birmingham, UK, with my mum, sister and niece. However, our neighbours and friends from Hillat Khogali are not so lucky. They are stuck in Hillat Khogali with little money and even less food. So, we are trying to raise some money to support them and provide nearby villages with much-needed resources. Police in killed Sistrane Edwards, shot Cynthia Soileau in the face on a no knock warrant and arrested her son Vonteeko Anderson for defending his home. No knock warrants are a horrible practice and it continues to result in death. The cops pull up, kick in the door, and shots are fired. We don’t know who shot who. Police have no released body cam footage they have. Attorney Ryan Thompson (Ryan K. Thompson, MPH,JD) is representing the family. I’m asking you to help this family as they are now in the fight of their lives. I want to be clear, a search warrant that ends up with no felons in the home, a disabled member of law enforcement killed by cops in his home, his partner shot in the face, a cop deceased, and one pound of marijuana is the “criminal activity” is pure trash policing and a waste of resources. This is Louisiana, they’ve already told multiple stories. I’ll share more soon, do what you can. Around the same time, industry intelligence confirmed that global and national shipbuilding majors including HD Hyundai were actively scouting locations across India in states like GJ, AP etc and Tamil Nadu’s dravidian model inclusive governance environment and existing Japanese and Korean industrial ecosystem in TN were already registering favourably with prospective global investors. Thoothukudi’s Member of Parliament and DMK Dy Gen Sec Tmt. Kanimozhi Karunanidhi was simultaneously pressing the Union Government on the outer harbour expansion,dredging and Airport expansion with international connectivity which were crucial needs to sustain growth in that region. Crucially the years 2023 and 2024 were spent deepening the proposition through extensive research and systematic global engagement. During the #CMStalinInJapan visit in 2023, early conversations were held with Japanese industry leaders followed by a follow-up visit in July 2025 when we had detailed discussions with several industry leaders including one with the leadership of the world renowned Imabari shipbuilding company, one of the world’s most respected and foremost shipbuilders. Thomas Andrew Dorsey, known as the “Father of Black Gospel Music,” lost his wife, Nettie Harper, and their newborn son, Thomas Dorsey Jr., in childbirth, burying them in the same casket. Secure attachment during infancy lays the foundation for our lifelong mental and physical health. As I wind down this week’s series on infant/toddler attachment, I wanted to conclude with a few final words about why it matters so much. Obviously, strong relational connections between parents and children are beneficial in and of themselves. But there’s more to it than that. Attachment grounds and shapes our long-term mental health as well as our ability to enter into positive relationships with others. You see, children who are securely attached tend to be just that: Secure. This allows them to navigate the world independently, with confidence in themselves and their abilities. It almost seems contradictory that independence would spring from dependence. But it most surely does. The more love and care children receive during their earliest months and years and the more attentively and predictably their needs are met by treasured loved ones, the more they experience the world as safe place. And this is a gift to both the brain and the body. When the human body is not flooded daily with stress hormones and when anxiety occurs - not as a constant state - but more occasionally in response to life’s challenges, not only are we better prepared to deal with it - but our bodies don’t bear the long-term burden of a constant stress response. This is a fascinating area of early development that we are still only beginning to fully understand, but suffice it to say that positive early experiences - both in the home and in conjunction with high quality early education and care programs- are increasingly linked to lifelong health. This brain-body connection has huge implications not only for individual children, but for our public policy. A tweet is hardly the place to unpack this conversation in full, but know that my new book, The Daycare Myth (which can be ordered from the link in my bio) explores in detail the disconnect between what we know about the science of early development and how it is enacted (or, more frequently, not enacted) in our public policy. The costs - both developmentally and economically - are astronomical. And not only to individuals, but to taxpayers - who would be far better served by making small investments in getting things right in the first place than paying for the results of our inaction across the lifespan. Look at this crucifixion. There are no nails. There is no blood, no wound, no crown of thorns. And you are not looking up at Christ, the way every crucifixion in history has asked you to. You are looking down at him, from above, as if you were God... The painting is Christ of Saint John of the Cross, made by Salvador Dalí in 1951, and it hangs in the Kelvingrove Art Gallery in Glasgow. It began, as so much of Dalí's work did, with a dream. He had been struck by a small, almost crude drawing made in the sixteenth century by the Spanish mystic Saint John of the Cross. While imprisoned in Toledo, the friar had a vision of the crucifixion seen from an impossible angle, from above, looking down on the bowed head and outstretched arms, and he sketched it quickly. Nothing like it existed in the entire tradition of Christian art. Centuries later, Dalí saw a reproduction, and it stayed with him. Then, in 1950, he had what he called a "cosmic dream." In his own words, written beneath his studies for the painting: "I saw this image in color and which in my dream represented the nucleus of the atom. This nucleus later took on a metaphysical sense; I considered it the very unity of the universe, the Christ." In the dream he saw Christ hovering above the bay of Port Lligat, the little Spanish fishing village where he lived, and a voice said to him: "Dalí, you must paint this Christ." He began the next morning. At first he intended to include the wounds, but near the end, he dreamed again, and this time he saw Christ with none of it. No nails. No blood. No thorns. He erased suffering from the cross entirely. To get the body right, he hired a Hollywood stuntman and had him suspended from an overhead gantry in the studio, so he could study exactly how a real human body hangs in the air, how gravity pulls at it. The result is a figure of impossible calm, floating in a dark sky above an ordinary harbor where two fishermen go about their day, unaware of what is happening above them. Dalí painted the moment as it might be seen from outside of time, from above the world, where the horror has been lifted away and what remains is the shape of the thing itself: a man, suspended between the sky and the sea, at the center of everything. Saint John of the Cross, whose small drawing began all this, once wrote a line that could serve as the caption to this painting: "In the evening of life, we will be judged on love alone." Day 12 of My 30-Day Water Fast. Last night, out of nowhere, I got hit by a train. Not literally—but my energy was gone. Physically, mentally, spiritually. I laid on the couch, completely drained, and I didn’t want to get up. Didn’t want to move, didn’t want to talk. I was done. But in that moment, something clicked. I heard a quote that changed everything: “You don’t wait for energy to move. You move to create energy.” And as soon as I heard that? I got up. Not only did I force myself through my late-night workout, but I also ran a mile and finished with 8 minutes of cold exposure therapy. And just like that, I felt light-years better. Lesson Learned: 🚨 Your mind doesn’t control you. You control your mind. And your body will follow. 🚨 That little voice telling you to quit? You tell it to shut the hell up. 🚨 You don’t negotiate with weakness. You push through it. The only time you can’t do something is when you tell yourself you can’t. Apologies For The Long Post 🙏 Beaten Brutally With 50 plus Laathis 8 years ago, in breaking breaths, with Traumatic Brain Injuries, brain matter oozing out, bleeding, injured on whole body,,that's how #streetdog Chotu reached my home on fateful night of 29 April 2017 💔 Everyone said he will not make it as Chotu was in coma for months even after treatment & surgeries. Not losing hope, I kept talking with Chotu, calling his name every few minutes, reminding him to come back to my voice. And Lord, after weeks of sleepless nights, Chotu responded back to me with a clear eye contact & a small wag of tail! That was that then, the #miracledog had pulled through & spent 8 happy years with me & his Canine rescue siblings. Today, his TBI has caused serious neuroinflammation across his brain & nasal cavity. The boy is in pain & is constantly remembering his 8 year old beating as if it's happening at this very moment 😢😢 Chotus treatment is ongoing & we are going to get his MRI & rhinoplasty scheduled as soon as we can. I went on an indefinite break from VRChat world creation back in May, with the intention to explore other platforms/options. I won't be returning to VRC as a world creator anymore, the break from it is now permanent. So what did I choose? Standalone games for platforms like Steam. I plan to keep making games for PC VR first (with desktop/non-VR support too), as I fall into the group that desperately want more PC VR games that aren't held back by untethered/mobile VR parity. Mobile VR support will be considered after the pc versions are complete, if doable. How can I? if I don't like the growing complexity of vrc world dev? I'm using a standalone version of Cyantrigger and with the help of my close friends at Studio CyFi, & the transition has been really smooth to standalone. I think this is a key part of my choice and it not being an empty promise, as I'm not working in the dark here. If I need help with something (which is a lot) I have my friends to help me through it. Plus, I have access to everything game devs have the freedom to use like plugins/scripts from asset store. So do I have a project in development? Not yet. I'm in the R&D phase, learning lots of new techniques & aspects of coding to help in future projects. I am already at the stage that I can recreate everything I've done from my past worlds, so anything I learn now is completely new stuff I lacked the skill to do before. A big focus of this R&D phase is learning how to make more advanced NPC/enemy logic, since I want to do more combat heavy projects. 2026, whats the plan? I want to be more open with what I'm working on, sharing stuff I'm happy with and also stuff that I've found difficult so far, so you can keep track of my journey to making my first standalone game for PC VR.
