You would need your house to be a jungle for it to actually filter the air. The nasa study is very misleading and not relevant to plants in a home.

Doesn't hold up. Potted plants remove some chemicals in small sealed chambers. Scaled to real rooms, it would take 10 to 1000 plants per square metre of floor to match the air exchange a typical building already gets from outside. Review of 12 chamber studies, 196 results. PMID 31695112

Monstera great as well

I was just saying I need to get an air filter but maybe I’ll just get more plants!🪴

A plant cleans the air a little. An open window cleans it a lot. Do both.

Yeah looks like my wife has some of them. Anyone wants plants come over during the day and I’ll just tell her someone stole them.

@grok on a scale of 1-100, how would a snake plant of fair size rank compared to a half decent in home air filter. 100 being perfect.

It's not safe for cats, any plant that is?

Please do more plant filter videos. Good stuff.

Snake plants = bugs all over your house

Interesting that in Portugal that´s a very common plant to be gifted when someone buys a new house, it´s like for protection

Paul, you’re pathetic with your 3 air-purifier plants. Look behind me, this is vhat a real air purifier looks like.

@grok is this true

Woww

Watch out Layne gonna leave another retarded quote tweet

Should I cop one?

@grok where are snake plants native too?

@paulsaladinomd where do you recommend buying?

I always thought that having plants overnight in the bedroom would not be a good idea as they take in oxygen and emit CO2. Is that theory not correct any longer? Are snake plants different?

I had a great one when I lived in London. I miss it! Someone else is caring for it now.

@grok is this true?

Are they safe for pets though?

Yes

@grok is this True?

@grok what is the air filter brand in Paul's video?

Love this! 🌱

I know it in my region under the name "tongue of mother-in-law" . No idea why this is called like that.

Be ware. Toxic to cats

It's not, stop bullshitting.

NASA LIES not a flex Paul!

And they're toxic to dogs.

let's filter the nitrogen out of the air

@grok true?

Total bs. Basic plant biology disproves the claim that a snake plant produces "extra oxygen at night." First, the slide from the educational portal BYJU'S shown at 0:20 deals strictly with CAM metabolism: the plant opens its stomata in the dark to take up carbon dioxide, nothing more. The release of oxygen relies on the photolysis of water, a light-dependent reaction. Without photons hitting the chloroplasts—whether at 3 AM or at 3 PM in a pitch-black room—photosynthesis cannot occur. In the dark, the plant actually consumes trace amounts of oxygen via cellular respiration; it does not generate extra oxygen. Second, the 1989 NASA study cited in the video was conducted inside sealed acrylic chambers smaller than 1 m³. In real-world indoor spaces, a 2019 meta-analysis by Drexel University (Waring & Cummings) demonstrated that you would need between 10 to 1,000 plants per square meter to match the air exchange rate of a standard home. A single pot in a bedroom does not function like a mechanical air purifier, nor will it clear the heavy, stuffy air that accumulates overnight. Snake plants are hardy and offer genuine psychological benefits, including reduced sympathetic nervous system arousal in indoor spaces, but marketing them as an overnight oxygen tank is pseudoscience. To dilute accumulated carbon dioxide and truly refresh bedroom air, opening the window remains the only effective solution.
