This is the same reason so many conservatives seem opposed to universal basic income. Despite numerous studies showing that giving a fixed amount below a certain income is cheaper and helps more, they still fight it.

This is a very passionate Canadian. I agree with much of what he has to say but disagree that Cons are willing to pay more taxes and accept less services. From where I sit, they want to pay less taxes, even knowing that this reduction will cause harm to the less fortunate.

This what I like to call “trickle down economics” for Canadians. When you invest in Canadians they stimulate the economy. When you “invest” in corporations, like the Cons like to do with tax cuts, they stimulate their own pockets and screw the economy.

So why don't socialists all agree to give a portion of their incomes for these programs? I'm sure many of them make great money in their public sector/ university jobs. I bet they would be happy at being locked at $40k and giving the rest to the government.

They do. They’re called taxes. The problem is when governments use those funds in bad faith that cost more.

He’s correct. But it’s not because they want to watch people to suffer. (Some sociopaths fit this description). Most just want to ensure there is no competition for power from people they consider inferior. Women, disabled, addicts, BIPOC, LGBTQ have power.
