This was the viral video yesterday. Some said Bruce Fischer, husband of Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer, refused to shake Vice President Kamala Harris' hand. Others argued, "Don’t you see he’s holding a cane in one hand and a Bible in the other?" Some pointed to his wife’s expression, saying, "Look at her face; she knows he didn’t want to shake Harris’ hand." Quickly, accusations of racism surfaced, as if shaking a white or Black hand somehow pays bills or adds value to anyone’s life. 🚨UPDATE: After some digging, I finally found the video from six years ago of Senator Fischer being sworn in by Mike Pence, with her husband by her side. To my expectations, after the oath, her husband gleefully shook Pence’s hand and thanked him for his leadership. Before they left, he shook his hand again. Given his refusal to shake Vice President Harris's hand today, I suspected him of being a bigot. Now, I’m certain.
